Cool Here you go, finally a statement from Honda about the 6 speed manual!!

Looks like the TL won't be getting it (right away anyway), but the CL looks confirmed for the 2002 model....

Outstanding. The only question is how do we let Acura know that WE WANT A MANUAL TLS?

We should have everyone (as many as posible)to sign a petition or request form asking for 6 speed manual on future ('03 and up) TL_TypeS. Then foward or send it to Acura Headquarter in US or Japan. The form could be in any format, but I think web base is the best, since a lot of people go online now, it easier and quicker too ( not to mention, it will be easier to tranfer the database too)

Just my 2cents

I want it on the 2002 TLS (available fall 2001), not a year later!!!! The AutoWeek article seems to suggest that is possible. That should be our goal.

I am pretty sure that Acura will put a 6-speed in the TL-S soon. Remember that the CL came out first then the TL. Then the CL-S came out then the TL-S. Get the point? So since the CL(S) is getting the 6-speed then the TL(S) will get it soon too. JMO.

I guess I won't be trading my TL-S in after just 6 month.

Wink

What fraction of new TLS buyers do you think would prefer a 6 speed manual over the automatic?

My guess is that a stick would win over many BMW and Audi customers...

Probably I'd consider that if I were still in my early 20's.

Actually, I'm 51 and very much want a stick. My current car is a Mercedes SLK230 with an auto, and basically, it is no fun to drive. My car before that was a Maxima SE with a stick, which was great fun.

I'm not sure age is the deciding factor, but rather how (and whether) you like to drive.

Just my 2 cents.

I won't buy a TL unless it has a manual transmission. Honda is going the wrong way with the sportshift (inability to hold 1st, the torque converter lockup threshold is too large (>500rpm)).

Yeah, but the CLS came out an entire year before the TLS, so if you follow the same timetable, then the TLS won't get a manual until fall '02.

I had to look long and hard to find a 5 speed manual when I bought my 90 Maxima SE. Wouldn't even consider an auto. Eleven years later, I'm looking forward to an auto TL-S. The SS and 260hp will suit me fine.

Thumbs down

Nah, I don't really want a stick in my -S. My last car, which I drove for ten years, had a stick and I was ready for a car in which I could drink a cup of coffee and drive at the same time. I like the idea of having the SS for times when I really need to feel like I'm doing something other than just relaxing and enjoying the car.
