Post alignment after getting new tires?

yes..no?

all the guys at the dealership said it would be nice to get one, but i should be ok without doing it

im going to be switching between 225's and 205's for summer/winter. it would be great to align it with 215s mounted, but thats not possible

what do you guys think?

the tires were expensive, i dont want to worry about them wearing out early

i tried to not get one and but the car would do an absolute nose dive to the left. Alignment took care of most of it, but it still pulls a bit.

yes, because caster and toe are just as important to get corrected as is camber (if you are lowered and have a kit). sometimes these two lesser known specs can do as much tire damage as camber.

If you are just getting new tires and nothing else, then no, you do NOT need an alignment.

Hmmmmm

I'd always heard get one 2x a year. and ANY time you get new tires. Kinda like getting new pads when you turn/replace the rotors.

Yes I DID need an alignment.

Tires were a different size and I think that they were unidirectional makes a difference. Whatever the reason, the car NEEDED an alignment after dumping the stock tires.i

it still doesnt make sense that an alignment is required. the tires are only 0.4 of an inch thicker on each side, what the hell are they going to align?

Well, my car pulls to the right a lot more after I changed my tires. Maybe my car pull to the right a bit before already, but it is a lot more noticeable after I got those wider rubbers...

I would just get one....

You only need an alignment if you altered the geometry to your suspension componets like shocks/springs/tie rods. Just getting new tires do not require an alignment. Even if the new tires are wider than stock, it will not alter the suspension geometry, only the speedometer reading will be affected.

Just think of it this way, by changing to different size tires, you will not alter the camber...nor the toe...so why would you need an alignment?

However, if you had hit a big pot-hole lately or your old tires show uneven wear patterns, then go ahead and do an alignment. If not, don't waste your money.

AcuraTL:

Dude... you may have worked out all the technical reasons why one wouldn't need an alignment, but face facts... you have multiple people saying that their car pulled hard to one side after changing tires.

So it comes down to this-

Put the new tires on, if the car pulls get an alignment. If the car is straight and you don't feel a difference, take the 60-70 bucks and break your new tires in while driving to a nice restaurant.

I'm not hatin' you, I just made my wallpaper the angle pic of your car. Damn, I want those rims, but if I get them (aside from the bodykit) our cars will look EXACT from the back and sides! Your car looks great, but I don't know if I want to be a copycat.
