Angry Helpppppp Driver Seat

I have gone to the dealer for the 8th time trying to have the f****** driver seat creaking noise (middle of back area) fixed. Still not fixed after 8 apointments!!!!!!!!!! I have been coping with this problem for over 6 months !!!!!!!!!!! :banghead:

What should I do next? Replace the car for a true luxury vehicle?

From the DIY page (one members experience):
http://www.acura-tl.com/faq/faq.php#10

It's also well known that the damn seatbelt recepticle squeaks like hell. If you drive without your seatbelt on and the noise goes away (proving its the recepticle), spray WD40 into the slot where you insert the seatbelt and where the recepticle attaches to the seat frame.

Been there done that.... the creaking can be felt right in the middle of the back.. the dealer claims he has replaced all the internal parts of the seat as well as the seat rails... I think they are either lying or the mechanic has no idea how to fix a simple seat.

I am begining to distrusth Acura with their claims of good and reliable vehicles. I only have 38Km on this f******* car and seriously thinking about getting rid of it...

I've never had a car before where I had to go to the dealership so frequently !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am heading back to the dealership tomorrow morning, and going right to the owner of the place. Will tell him to fix the f****** seat once in for all even if it takes a week. If they dont fix it, I will go to Acura Canada and place an ad in all the papers sold in this town quoting "Acura TL 2002, 38Km, for sell. Only bug is a creaking driver seat that Acura can't fix."

Maybe that will take a bit of attention from Acura. I thought customer service and satisfaction was a top issue with Acura. I guess I was wrong....

Just take the back panel of the seat off and spray WD-40 where the metal springs clip into place. I did that and my creaking stopped.

Thanks for the tip. Will tell the dealer to try it based on the FAQ you provided. But my patience is running really thin....

i agree, that or find a different dealer. they obviously havent really taken the time, because any good/competent dealer would have resolved the issue after that many attempts

Just called the sell guy that sold me my TL and asked him if he was still selling cars.... Told him I was interested in a luxury/performance car other than Acura...

I explained the seat issue to him and he told me to come to the dealership first thing in the morning and he'd personnaly try out the car to check out the creaking noise for himself...

I told him that regardless as to what he would do, the odds of me buying another Acura product were next to nil unless the service department proves to me that they mean business and fix this thing once in for all.

I have already lost 18 hours of work taking this car to the dealership .... wonder if they'd cover my lost salary !!!!!!!!!!!!?????????

Wellllllllll....... Just brought the car at the dealership again (Apointment No 9) and they tried to rebuild the seat again..., and guess what, still f****** creaking.. !!!!!!!!!!

How incomptetent can these mechanics and service manager be !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And not only that, they say that the creaking may be caused due to the fact that I adjust the tilt too far back and that this may be the reason why the creaking keeps coming back !!!!!!!!! If Acura would have had a limitation as to how far back the seat can be tilted, they would have limited the travel of it for sure in their design !!!!! They think I am stupid or what !!!!!!!!!!

I just called the Acura Canada office in Toronto, and was told that all they could recommend to me is either go to an other dealer or get an apointment with the regional service advisor !!!!!!!!! What the hell should I be the one doing that ! Why isnt the dealership replace the whole f******* seat with one of the ones sitting in the car lot and have themselves deal with Acura as opposed to the actual customer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :banghead:

I am getting real mad here. This car is going soon. I have had more apointments with the Acura dealership to get numerous things fixed on this car then I ever had with an old Saturn I owned before !!!! From aibags problem, to not only one but TWO rack and pinions, bad wheel aligment (which I had to replace the tires as a result), shimmy brakes, misalinged wheel steering, seats binding on seat rails, stucked coin box, paint chipping away, and on and on and on... and this f****** seat that they cant fix !! :bigun2:

Anyone wants a 2002 TL for cheap ?

You bought a glorified Honda, get over it. My moonroof rattles all the time, but I think it's worth the $15k that I saved from not buying a 5-series. Turn on the stereo that you paid for and all those squeaks and creaks are drowned out. As long as safety is not compromised (which it sounds like it isn't), then you're good to go.

If you purchased a Maybach, then I would understand your whining. I have a 2003 TLS w/ Navi, so I should be whining more than you. I just look at the corner of the moonroof to remind me of which company produced my car along with the quality that should be expected.

Maybe I learned it from my father. He has such problems with his CL600, but he doesn't complain to MB because he says it's not like he bought a Rolls.

Got my car back tonight. So far looks like the seat isn't creaking anymore... The dealer replaced the tilt motor and padded the clips at the tubing area per the FAQ. Wonder which was the actual cause !?!? Anyways, I am not closing the door yet on this one... will wait till next neek to fiure out wether the problem is actually fixed or not...

Just wanted to tell you that, I had the same problem with my 2003 TLS with the Sunroof, but I just got it fixed from the dealer and its fine!! No sounds in the car ne more... atleast for now!!

Just tell them that your sunroof rattles and what they do is put PVT tape around the sunroof. This is what Acura Corp. has instructed them to do with our cars to fix this common problem. So I recommend you do that during your next oil change or whenever... didnt pay a dime for it since it was under warranty.

Redox:

if you get the tape put on and the rattling is still there, it might be bushings. They replaced my whole sunroof to find out that it was just teh bushings that were bad. Once those were replaced, it has been quiet for the past three months.

Thanks Green, I'll have them check it out at my 3K checkup. I'm at 2.5K, so I have to wait another month.
