How bad of a snowstorm ? What all occurred before this thumping started ? Is your car's suspension lowered ?

Could be something loose or broken, have you checked underneath the front for anything abnormal with the tires, suspension or steering ? Maybe snow and ice got lodged up within somewhere.....?

Were you noticing any roughness or noises before the snow storm ?
Your best bet would be to get the car's suspension checked out on a rack.

Ten year old cars with over 100k on the dial are bound to have some worn parts.
It could be any one of the following: blown strut, worn control arm bushing/joint, tie rod/sway bar end, driveshaft, tire/rim.......etc.,etc. ya get the idea !

Been through plenty of snow up here in Nova Scotia. A few times after driving have gotten heavy vibration out of the front end, the snow gets packed up in there and causes it. Soon as it melts or is dug out all is well.
The OP's noise is possibly related to this, perhaps lodged snow or ice as suggested, but should get it checked asap.
If the car has been parked in a heated garage etc after driving through the snow, and still has the issue, it pretty much rules out the snow.

good luck....

A squeaky mouse may have found a warm home under your car's hood, ha...hah !

But seriously, have the ps belt checked....... along with the ball joints and all bushings for the suspension.
