Help With My Body Control Computer

Does anyone know where this is located in the car, and also where I might be able to pick up a new one?

You are gonna have to give us more info, or find out the real name of whatever it is you are trying to get more info on.

Answer to what it is

If I am not mistaken there are two computers in the TL. One (the ECU) monitors and controls the engine, the other (BCM or body control module) controls all others electronics in the car. Furthermore I believe that it is located behind the passengers side kickpanel, and is manufactored by NEC.

You're talking the VSA unit.

There are actually three computers in our cars. PCM, TCM, and the VSA (or TCS if non Type-S).

If by "Body Control Computer" you mean the stability control, then it is located in the front passenger footwell area, right next to where your right foot would be, behind the carpeting.

Why do you need a new one? VSA control modules usually don't go bad. I'm just curious.

Ok heres the problem

I am in the process of converting all of my interior lights from incandescent to blue LED’s. I had the entire interior of my car pulled apart, and I replaced the light bulb that illuminates the gear selector with a blue LED. When I did I heard a pop and all of the lights in the interior went dark. What makes it even crazier is that the climate control screen, clock, CD player screen, and gear indicator in the instrument cluster all illuminate until I turn the parking lights on, they are go dark. I have checked all the fuses, and the relays located under the hood that where labeled “small lights”. I then thought that maybe I had a short in one of the units. So I then disconnected each unit to see if they where the problem, with no change. I then purchased a new turn signal switch but had no positive response. Fortunately however I was able to return that part. I was talking with a friend and he suggested that it was what he called a body control module, and seeing as how he is in the automotive profession I figured he new what he was talking about. So I still don’t have my lights working and am trying to figure out the problem. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

There's a dimmer knob located by your left knee. Try adjusting that.

Other than that, you said you checked the fuses and whatnot already. As far as I know, there is no computer unit controlling the dimming of lights, except for the dimmer knob I mentioned.

I think what he's talking about is called the multiplexer. It controls the interior lights and a bunch of other items. My dome light doesn't work anymore because of this. Yes, I checked the bulb and the switch but it's not either, it's the multiplexer. I'll get it fixed eventually because it's annoying as hell to open the door at night and the car interior is pitch black.
