Problem with Power Assist

Recently started having trouble with the power assisted steering. On occasion when backing out of the garage or parking space, the steering wheel is hard to steer. I was a at Goodyear and while having a flat repaired had them look at it. They advised it had something to do with variable power assist and needed a specific tool to adjust it. Has anyone had this happen to them?

try a fluid change if you've never done it, its cheap and if some water found it's way in or you've never done it before it may help...

just go to honda (acura charges too much) and buy two or three (depending on how anal..er..thorough you are ) of ps fluid (i believe they come in qt sizes)... and get yourself a turkey baster...

suck out the old fluid until you're down the the mesh screen (DO NOT NO NO NO push too hard down with the baster, when it stops moving down into the tank easily dont push farther, there is a mesh filter screen in there you'll see it) and refill to the max line with new fluid... start the car, turn the wheel lock to lock a few times, let it idle for 30 secs, go lock to lock again, idle a few more secs and shut down... suck out the fluid again and repeat for as many times allowed by however much fluid you purchased...

may not fix it but if it does its a lot better than buying a tool or replacing the ps pump and steering rack (i can change the PS on an old car but i dont have any experience with variable PS, if we have it...)

that methd works but you can also remove teh pressure side of the hose and stick that into a catch container, have someone start teh car and turn the wheel back and forth while you fill the container as it goes down

you mean return hose right, the pressure hose is under some serious pressure and is dangerous...
