Unhappy Help: Emabarrising stench in my car

I don't know what the hell is going on & i've been fighting this problem for more than a month. I know it sounds funny, but only if it happens to somebody else. Well anyways this all started a while back, at 1st i thought mabe it was just wet grass on my carpet starting to ferment. It progressivly got worse. After a while it smelt like death it self. I mean it is really hummin. I couldn't take it any more, so i started tearing my car apart. Took the trunk apart, the back seat, floor molding on passenger side doors. this is the area i isolated the foul stench to. i could smell it coming out of the holes where the floor molding i pulled off was. I mean it made me gag smelling this shit. I took my water nozzle & put it on fine stream & flushed & flushed. Looking through the holes something was causing the water to foam & talk about stench. afterwards in my driveway was little chunky remnents. Don't ask me what it was, cause i don't know. That did not cure the problem so i ended up feeding a gallon of duluted bleach in there. Is it possible that a rodent or a snake could have got in that canal & died. There is know way that i know of, of getting in there as it is a steel enclosure. Does anyone have an idea of what i might do? I know i can't claim warranty on this, i don't think there is anyway it could be a car issue? I'm at my wits end & i do not know what to do. after you guys are done laughing can anyone come up with any ideas? Please Help i'm desperate. I don't even want to drive my beautiful car anymore, its so BAD!!

When you say "floor molding" are you referring to the door sills? I'm wondering if taking off the side skirt would allow you to access that area better. It does however sound like something crawled up in there and decided to make your TL it's permanent home.
I once had a case of beer explode in my trunk, only to find out 2 weeks later. That fermenting smell was a bitch to get rid of. I can just imagine how much worse of a smell you're dealing with. Good luck!

thanks for the response, door sills was what i was speaking of. I really don't think there is a way in there, its within the frame. Guess i just have to let the bastard rott & keep flushing. And hope the damn stentch will eventually go away. So much for the new car smell, gone forever. Did your beer smell ever go away?

This was a Seinfeld episode. He finally parked the car in the city w/ the keys in it, and left it unlocked. Just walked away.

I used a ton of baking soda to absorb most of the stink. You may want to try that and see if it helps. But if whatever died in there still remains, your only option is to wait until it rots away.

You might try Febreze instead of just using water.

those things will probably only cover up the smell for a bit, but not get rid of the problem at the source. Aren't there any "high-end" car washes that might be able to poke around inside the car to see where the problem is coming from?

The stink in my car was from the snow getting tracked in, melting, refreezing, melting, refreezing, etc. It never had a chance to dry so it got stank. Took the floormats out and let them dry then cleaned them. Smells like a new car now.

Talking

wa hoo problem solved. i'll never store the dog food in the garage again. What i figured out what happened is some kind of rodent bastard was stealing the dog food & some how storing it in the frame of my car. i found a drain plug under my car, i then put my front wheels up on ramps, so everything i flushed would go to the plug. chunk by chunk after two hours of flushing i got every morsel out, had to keep clearing the drain with a screw driver as some of the fine smelling chunks were too big. TALK ABOUT STENCH, OH MY GOD!!. thought i was going to spew. my car smells like a whole lot of roses now. Man do i feel better. thanks for the help boys. By the way what the hells a cleveland steamer? I had no idea that dog food could get so fucking stenchy when it got wet & started to rot. Still cant figure out how that rat bastard got into the frame of my car? Oh well alls good now!! Right On!

lol, I'm reminded of the Family Guy episode last night when Peter becomes a hooker after he's laid off

Peter (to Lois in the car): So whaddya want, a Cleveland Steamer?
Lois: No, Peter....what the hell's a Cleveland Steamer?
Brian: You don't wanna know

something like that
