What do you mean when you turn them off you feel that nothing happens. What should happen with turning them off??

The only things that happen when you turn on the heat is
1) the amber(?) light on the switch comes on
2) voltage is applied to the terminals at the back of the mirror glass...which I'm guessing is some simple load which ultimately gets hot.
If you want to verify that they work...just feel the mirror? I recently put on a new glass/mirror holder and it got a lot warmer in a shorter amount of time as compared to the other side.
I see no reason to leave the mirror heat on all the time.
Those are conflicting statements! And what you describe is normal.

i guess if you really wanna see if they work, spray water on them, let it freeze, then turn the heater on and see if it melts. thats the purpose for it. i seldom use mine, just cuz we havent had too many sleety storms yet that freeze the mirrors.
actually, you could prbly check them when its raining. theyre supposed to get warm enough to clear any drops on the mirrors. ive done that before
