Headlights

I am so sick of people high beaming me on the road...especially 2 lane roads, cause they think my high beams are on. I guess I'm just venting here, but it'd make me feel better if others are facing this same crap.
When I have my fog lights on people flash me less, I guess because they know you normally can't have highs and fogs on. So in essence I have to blind people even more to get them to stop. The people that piss me off the most are the ones that flicker their highs and when I do it in return to show them, they leave turn on and leave theirs on just to spite me or something..which makes it even more dangerous. Whatever....

i had a chance to go off on a fool who thought i was high beaming. i was at an intersection waiting to make a U, then the prick on the other side flashes his high beams on me. so i high beam him back showing him that they're not high beams. guy then turns it on.. and leaves it on. what a prick. the light was going right into my eyes and my dates eyes. (so of course that was pissed me off... cause this girl... will complain about it all night long). so the light turns green.. and i thought that was it. after making the U to go into the gas station.. the prick is there. since i was with the girl.. iwasn't planning on doing anything. then the guy.... in a ford focus (hahaha) comes up to me and says thats kind of rude and dangerous riding around with your high beams on. so i informed him that they weren't my high beams. this genius thought when i flashed my high beams...since they are not as bright.. those were my low beams. guy started to get upset... so this is where i went off... i dont remember exactly what i said to him.. but it was something like...

look you fu*king dip$hit!!!! i told you those aren't high beams. they are called xenon lights. Just cause the FOCUS doesn't offer that option.. and you've been in a closet for the past 10 years. its not my fault you have never seen them. (this is where i proceeded to show him the light. ) LOOK you idiot.. low beams... high beams... of course now, a little crowd starts gathering... a group of kids in their little rice rockets. they seemed to be enjoying the trashing i was giving to this guy. so..after i was done..guy says.. sorry didn't know. (AHHHHHHH!!!!!!!)

Heh heh, I guess that's what's nice about living in Johnson Co., everyone and their 16-year-old daughter has a car with HIDs.

I've never been high-beamed before, and honestly, a properly-adjusted HID light is no more annoying than a halogen headlight.

I think that people tend to think that we have our high beams on because our lights are not as "blue" as other HID lights out there. If you see an Audi, BMW, or a S2000, you don't have even think about high beams because they produce such a distint "blue" HID look. Ours is just a really bright white light. It really does look like we have our high beams on.

I actually like the fact that our headlights are white, not blue. As somewhat of a purist, I want white light to shine on the road.

I guess this comes after a year of watching the development of a new white LED backlighting system for an aircraft instrument display done by my mechanical design compatriots... White is the lofty ideal we should strive for!

Actually, our HID does shine blue when view from outside......some ppl just don't care... and they have no logic sense what-so-ever.... even when I spend 10 min explaining to a guy that I did NOT have my high-beam on, he started blasting alll F and S words at me..... saying I am a moron and am endanger ALL the drivers on the road.... and even said that Cops should take my driver license away to keep other drivers safe... Whatever.......

Ppl should stop looking right into headlights.... they keep blind themselves because they starr right into our HID..... try look right into a Halogen headlights, and it would still hurt your eyes just as bad.......

Yeah, these are probably the same people who drive around with misadjusted lowbeams (you know, where one lamp is aimed correctly while the other is aimed a bit too high--or perhaps both aimed too high). IMHO such vehicles throw you off even more because it's hard to tell if their high beam(s) are on or not.

I have a TLS and an A4 and I think the main issue is due to the fact that the TLS lights diffuse much higher.

eg. When I shine my A4 lights on a wall, I see a very distinct line where the light stops, almost like a projector whereas with my TLS there is no definate line. This means that some of the light is reaching other drivers at eye level albeit a trivial amount.
