Headers and Heat Shields?

My question is for all of you who have installed headers, can you re-use the factory heat shield? i really want to keep the stock/stealth look under the hood. so far i bought the K&N filter and am planning to buy the thermoblock spacers, and possibly the mugen cooling parts.

You cannot reuse the factory heatshield, as the design of stock headers are different than aftermarket.

There's no mounting hole on the headers for the heat shield. If you really wanted one, you would have to build one yourself and mounting it elsewhere.

I probably wouldn't get the ceramic coated headers, since I've read people have had issues with them cracking, etc.

Stick with a used set of Comptech SS headers.

no offence but why on earth would you want to cover up your header , first of all you can barly see it and IMHO the heat shields look like personally i like the clean header look, you just have to be careful if you stick your hand in that area when they're hot, just my

Peace, Jeff

I agree. stealth is something you achieve from the outside, not under the hood!

The only advantage for heatshield is to keep the heat in the header instead of the engine bay. I have noticed the bay gets somewhat alil warmer.

If you really want to wrap your headers, this stuff is good, but your looks will deff suffer . .

now you may want to wrap the header by the tranny to help reduce it from the header . . .
