Headers and Emissions

Does putting headers in affect emissions in a negative way? I ask because I just got my OBX stainless steel headers, but I have to get a Maryland emissions test in about a month and half. Should I wait or put them on now?

To be safe you can wait... but you shouldn't have any problems. It's not like you're adding a part on your car that doesn't exist. You're just swapping out the Acura headers with aftermarket headers, so the emissions should be the same.

This is the main reasone I got CT's. They have C.A.R.B. certification. Eventhough the OBX were not available at the time, I would have went with CT for the peace of mind. But then again, California is pretty anal when it comes to vehicle emissions.

Good point.. since he's in Maryland I didn't mention it.. but others will probably read this.

If you are in California, you should go with the Comptech b/c of that CARB cert.... OBX does not have it. Rumor is they're working on it... but as of now.. they don't have it...

play it safe, wait the month. tru, you don't have to worry about CARB, but anytime you screw with the exhaust system you have to worry about emissions problems.

who knows, since they're the same design as comptechs they may have the same emissions results, but why risk it?

don't worry.. you'll still pass by far. hondas have amazing emissions output, the only way it won't pass is if you take the cat out.

Frogger,

Adam is correct the TL-S engine emissions are well below the requirements. Just to be on the safe side see if you can have your inspection done early prior to the upgrade, then you have a year to worry about it rather than in a month.
