you would probably remove the foot brake, and the cable that attaches the foot brake to whatever part 3 in the first diagram above replaces, then install part 3 onto the rear cables and then install part 1, install part 7 onto the long bolt of part 1, slide the long bolt through part 3, with part 4 installed at the same time, then thread part 6 onto the end of the long bolt...use part 6 to adjust the cable's to have proper tension.

install part 5 after you have the hand brake in, and have adjusted the cable.

if you go to the dealer and gat part #'s for all those parts, please post them....that will make this a great thread for the future.

I can't believe I have never thought about looking this up. I've always wanted a handbrake instead but I've never thought about actually doing it, let me know how it goes

Part #s are in one of the 6 speed threads i made.

Yes remove the foot brake, then disconnect the cable (where it joins under the center console) You will have to carefully drill out 2 holes to get to the nuts underneath to bolt the brake down.

I went to the acura dealer by my house today, the total for all the parts needed is $186.60, so that's the price with no discount, it may vary dealer to dealer!

hmm, thats a pretty nifty mod. obviously brand new parts are pricey, but maybe if by summer i can pick up some used ones... once the weather warms up it'll be time to mod again

just to clarify tho, the ebrake is 2 lines when coming up the center console. it then joins to become one exactly where 6MTUA5 pics show it? and it then runs from there all the way to the foot brake? so to do this mod, i just take off my center console, unwind the unified ebrake line from going torward the foot brake, and instead just attack it to the handbrake assembly? doesnt seem that hard to do

Nice job 6MTUA5

Two questions, can the handbrake be installed without taking out the seats?
and how come your handbrake looks crooked when its up?

You have to take out the seats to get the carpet up.
It is sort of slanted, that's just the angle that it sits at.

I was just thinking about this the other night while driving in the snow. Sometimes to get out of a bad situation the E-brake can do wonders. Having it on the floor with a pump set/release it's not wise to do so.

Since I work at a car dealer, I get discounts on my Acura parts. I sent in a quote request to my local Acura dealer to see how much parts are for me. Hopefully they'll be pretty cheap.
