Thumbs up GTP not Faster!

Stock for stock

My close friend an co-worker recently got a bright red 98 GTP with only 20K miles for a steal last week. Nice car! We decided to use the loading area behind our office complex as a 0-60 test bed after a few un fair starts seeing him on the street . I was sure with nearly 50 more ft. Lbs. of torque he would pull me off the line, and 60 MPH may be too short to catch up.

Me with VSA off, in SS mode with no torque braking (just having foot on the gas not depressing it for quick reaction) it was an identical take off with me not loosing any ground. We went twice, one me counting to 3 and then him. Towards 60 my car would slowly creep ahead, though I could not get more then maybe 4 feet as we ran out of track. I never really got to really use the SS as I never shifted into third, just got to almost red line in 2nd. Knowing off the line and 0-60 is about the same, and have driven his car, I’m certain the TL S has better top end and I would have gained throughout 3rd. To prove it I invited him to the ¼ track, though he didn’t or couldn’t make it that Friday. Will try some other time though again. I talked him into beefing up the tranny with SLP parts before the pulley or other mods, so I still have some time to win

I’m quite impressed by a car that has .6 liters less displacement and no supercharger in comparison. I just keep my fingers crossed that comptech makes an SC for us then its all over for them

I raced a GTP before... I would say it's a close call though I did gain about 1/3 car length over him before we hit 120km/h(speed limit was 50km/h).... One thing for sure though, there is a chance that GTP MIGHT jump ahead of TLS right at the beginning due to more torque....

I raced a GTP before and won w/ my TL-P. Of course no one believed me. It was close but I felt like I was pulling on him slowly at all speeds. We raced at three consecutive lights. It wasnt a balls out race but we raced up to ~85-90 at one light in a 45. I got him by ~2-3 car lengths. Believe it or not.

I have raced a TLS many times with my GSE regal. (same engine)

The TLS is not any faster...and...the GTP/Regal is not as well.

These two cars are about dead even. To say which is faster is almost impossible. Too much comes into play with who has the better launch, weather conditions, etc...

I raced a gtp with my buddies 85 z28 and got my ass handed to me. Did i mention the gtp had a shift kit and a 3.2 inch pulley. Watch out, a small 200 buc pulley can give them up to 20 horses extra. And thats only for like a 3.4 or 3.2, i heard of guys with 3.0 inch pulleys running mid to high 13's with the pulleys and exhaust.

You can get a pulley for as little as $80, and I think its a 3.8

What the hell is a pulley, and can we get one for our cars? Im guessing it has something to do with the supercharger?

Pulley is a super charger thing, unless you want to get smaller pulleys for your accesories, but that wont do much.
