Question Grriiiinnnnddd!!!!!

Newbie here.

This morning, my daughter waiting inside the car, decided to start my wife's TL-S for her while she ran back into the house to get something. The only problem was-

THE CAR WAS ALREADY RUNNING!

My daughter turned the key twice for a good two seconds each time. Two questions:

Is a TL-S starter a common Acura/Honda product?

Should I have it looked at to make sure the "teeth" are not damaged?

Any suggestions is appreciated.

Although grinding is definitely not good for the starter, I doubt the two attempted restarts will cause a permanent malfunction of the starter. The teeth and the Bendix spring are designed to take some abuse. Obviously, if you have trouble starting the car (or hear funny sounds while trying to start), you may want the dealer to look at it. Otherwise, it'll probably be fine.

My '97 Maxima SE has a remote start option but does *not* have the anti-grind feature that keeps you from activating the starter when you stick the key in the ignition. When I first got it installed, I bet my wife and/or I accidentally tried to restart an already running car more than a dozen times. The car still starts first time every time and doesn't sound any worse the wear.
