Post got pulled over for lights, plates, among other things...

might be a coincidence but ive been pulled over twice in the 1.5 months i had my exhaust

i was driving like an old woman last night. the light at an intersection goes yellow, i push a bit harder and make it. i honestly think i was ok, but it was questionable. he pulls me over. he says he can ticket me for the plastic cover over my plates and for the blue headlights. i told him to go for a one minute drive and he'd see another car with the exact same lights, he got a little irratated

gives me a $190 ticket for running a red. it was a set fine of 155, why did he bump it to 190? i just wish he ticketed me for the lights, im sure i could have gotten out of that

what can i do now? sure sure court, but what if the fool shows up?

(im going to get some kind of certificate from honda stating that the lights are legal)

Question

Blue headlight!!?? Some cops are so ignorance, they will do anything just to give you a ticket.

Haven't got pulled over for the blue headlights yet, but have been asked to pull over at a road block(counter-attack, random road-blocks to eliminate drinking and driving) in my S-Class, because my side-windows are too thick(double-paned)for normal cars!!??? And they thought I hide something in between side glasses.... @#$@#

Sorry to hear about that... no wonder that you didn't call me today...

Get a ticket fighter for sure... I would rather pay more to be sure that I don't get any points deduct because of the ticket...

Call me and I can give you some numbers for ticket fighters...

take it easy man... and call me if you want to check out the tires...

again... sorry to hear about that...

I got pulled over like 2 weeks ago for my blue lights also. It was like at 2 am. They were hiding in a gas station like they always do but for some reason that night they felt like pulling me over. Mind you I have driven past them countless times but that time I got pulled over. Gave me a warning and told me to change it or else get a ticket next time he see me. So I decided to take a different way home for a few weeks. Damn cops have nothing else better to do then stupid shit like this.
BTW, I hope everything works out for you.

What blue lights? The HID headlights??? These are standard OEM part that comes with the car. You should have told the cop that it is stock and comes standard... instead of telling him to go find another with the same lights. Cops always gets irritated when we try to be the smart a$$. Next time, be nice and polite. You might just get away with minor moving violations by being polite.

Forget about a letter regarding the headlights, the ticket is for going through a red light. You say you think you made it thtough but it's questionable. If the light turns yellow and you have room to safely stop the cops will ticket you for going through a red light. It happens here all the time, they have now installed cameras at alot of intersections to catch cars going through the red.

exactly...you cannot get a ticket for factory OEM lights because they have been DOT certified and because DOT is a federal agency, federal law trumps ANY state law. hence, DOT certification takes precedence.

Red face

...that sucks! Unfortunately, thanks to our new police chief, there is zero tolerance. In other words, doesn't matter how polite you are, the cops in Toronto will fine you regardless (ya...I also just got a bogus ticket). Personally, I think if you were driving a minivan, you wouldn't have been stopped.

The bad news...
The fine for going through an amber light or a red light is the same...$155.

408. Amber light — fail to stop 144(15) $155.00
412. Red light — fail to stop 144(18)
$155.00

See the link below: http://www.ontariocourts.on.ca/ontar...edule_43-4.htm

He could have nailed you with your plate...obstructing plate is $90 (see sections 67 to 69.2 in the link). Personally, I like the way your front plate looks, but if the cop was a major jerk, he could have added another $90.

The good news...
The ontario courts are jammed. Ask for a trial date. If it is over 8 months, you stand a good chance of getting off. (I rec'd my trial date yesterday...over 1 year away!!!) If the cop doesn't show, you are guaranteed to get off. Even if you lose, you've eliminated 1 year of having the ticket on your record (it stays on record for 3 yrs. from infraction).

See "Trial date scheduled more than 8 months away" in http://www.magma.ca/~fyst/appndxb.htm

Sorry for the long post. Hope it helps. Call me if you need more info.
