Got new transmission
Finally got my 2001TL back from the dealer after a new transmission. They also replace the computer and reset those christmas tree lights on the dashboard. Anyway...I feel like my car is not accelerating as fast as before? Maybe I'm imagining things or maybe I need to get used to it after haven't driving it for a while. To those with new transmission...are you guys getting that feeling that your car doesn't accelerate as fast? Should I be concern? Should I wait a couple of weeks for it to wear in?

I've got the same feeling after my transmission was replaced! And I also thought that this is just me. But if you think about it - these transmissions are not "new". These are "re-conditioned". Which is just a euphemism for saying "we took some crap from the pile of bad transmission you keep sending us, changed obviously bad parts and sent it back to you, sucker!" And there is no way of knowing what other problems in addition to the main problem this transmission had (or just mileage for that matter).

Just wondering? how long did it take you guys to get a new tranny?
As soon as my tranny started slipping they test drive my car the very same day and installed the new tranny the very next day.
Actually I feel that my car feels FASTER than before, and that's before breaking in the tranny. I feel more torque and feels more direct!!!
based on my butt dyno of course....

Hell it took them a week to do mine. Obviously they are backed up from so many tranny replacement.
I warned my brother about the TL tranny problem, but he's buying a 2003 TL this weekend for 29,000. So...hope everything is ok for him.
Acura better get their act together or they're going to lose some loyal buyers.

My TL also seemed quicker with the new tranny (errr, not new just a rebuilt - i know, i know...) and ECU, which definitely eliminated the 2 to 3rd shift lag in SS that the original one had.
Also, not a scientific dyno review, but i drove 30k miles on my TL last year so i was in it enough before and now after to be able to "feel" something is quicker. I noticed it the moment i drove it out from Acura after i got it back.

Mine transmission didn't actually die - it just developed a whining noise. Dealer volunteered (without me asking) to replace the transmission. Now I've got a "new" one with the similar noise (much less pronounced though) and somewhat sluggish acceleration. Pray this one die...

that's why the old saying "it ain't broke, don't fix it" works for me. I learned it the hard way with my seat frame. The mech fcked it up because of noise that can easily getting rid of with WD-40. Good job Acura Dealership, keep up the good work by experiementing with customers' car.
