Got my car back from comptech
Well, the S/C kit did not pass the emission test. So don't know if there will ever be a S/C kit for TL.
BTW, the car still feels solid. Comptech did a great job in clean out my dirty engine compartment.

Maybe for once, us 99 TLs will get something the 00 and up can't get The reason why Comptech wanted to test 00 and up TL is because of the ULEV emission. Since the Accord V6 and the 99TL is basically the same, and obviously, the Accord V6 already passed the emission, hurray for us. :toothless :smokin:

It'll say 49 state legal.
Manufactures can't afford to release stuff nowdays that doesn't comply to all 50 states. It's too costly to try and control where your stuff ends up and then the ensuing problems when consumers who don't pay attention to the fine print get a big fat ticket for failing emissions and then want their money back because the product isn't street legal.
I haven't seen too many manufactures in the last 5 years that will release a product for street use that does not conform to CA emissions. If there's any doubt, you get the "For off-road use only" disclaimer on the package.
As a result, I doubt you will see this S/C released until it complies with CA emissions. If it doesn't, I doubt it'll ever get released.

It's more complicated than this. Some states have adopted CA emissions standards even though they don't set the standard. For example, in MA all new cars sold must meet the CA emissions standards which means all MA cars must have CA emissions regs in place. As a result of this, the feds mandate that all *surrounding* states also only sell cars that have CA emissions regs in place. Why? Because the odds of someone buying a car in a neighboring state and either returning to MA or eventually moving to MA are higher than in a non-adjoining state. So here in New England, all new cars sold in VT, NH, RI, CT and NY are CA emissions compliant. Even though these states may have less restrictive emissions requirements, they still have to sell CA-compliant cars just because of MA. I bought my car in western CT and I live in MA and of course, the car has the correct emissions certs.
