I was the vicitim of a very unfortunate vandalism attack.. My ABP got keyed all the way around, and the windows were shot with a bb gun. All of my windows were shot, and shattered. When I stepped outside this morning, I thought it was bird doo doo..or frost, but no,.. it wasn't.

I'm guessing this is a couple thousand dollars of repairs of going back to the sheet metal and then priming and painting over. My question is.. do you think acura will allow me to paint it another color than ABP? The roof didn't get keyed..although... (maybe if it did..i could get a full body in differnt color..)

Anyhow, I'm trying to get information on possibly who it was,..i just know i won't be parking my car there any longer at that time of day!.

That really sucks to hear this. Some people have no heart. Just because you have a nice car and the vandals do not they have to mess up your car. If you ever find the people responsible for this, retaliation is a must!

 

Unless it's a lease, Acura has no say in it. The insurance company is the one to worry about...they may decide it can be fixed cheaper w/out a whole new paint job.

 

yup, the adjuster is supposed to go to the acura bodyshop on tuesday.. hmm.. i defitely shoulda helped a little and messedup the roof of the car. well..not like i was in the mood to do it at the time. Anyhow.. i hope I can color it some NSX colors... that blue..or the grand prix white... or that silver they have is really nice as well.

hmm... optimistic even though I'm spending 500 just to have the car restored to normal...grr..

Don't forget to file a police report. You may not be the only victim of this vandal, and the only way he's going te get caught is if the police can establish a pattern for his "handiwork".

 

these kids broke into my car once in HS. it was a 79 camaro and they got some tapes and a change holder. five years later i got a call from some detective who said they had a match with someone they arrested for a something stupid and wanted to know if i wanted to press charges still, i said hell ya!

I had my car broken into twice while I was in college. First time they smashed out my rear window and didn't take jack. Second time around they attempted to break in with a slim jim I'm guessing since the chrome door molding was dented in. (this was my Mazda 626 BTW)

I forgot to respond to your repainting question...(I was too mad thinking about needless vandalism). But anyways, I'll bet the insurance company will NOT repaint your car another color. With the current damage, they just have to paint the damaged panels and maybe corresponding panels to make it match.

With a complete color change, there is additional cost(unneccessary cost in the eyes of the ins. co.) in having to remove the current color from the area you see when the doors are open, as well as the engine area.

I wanted to repaint my maroon car back in the day to black. I thought it was no big deal, took it to the dealer, and he explained the extra cost involved in changing color due to the extra areas that have to be changed as well. I never even thought of it. It would have looked pretty silly to have a black car with maroon door panels and engine area!

 

I hope you find out who did it and kick their ass!

But I'm still very sorry to hear that man. I hope all goes well with the repaint and new glass etc.

On the color change issue. Yes their is more involved....allot more involved when changing colors. But after the insurance company writes you up the check, see how much more it will cost you out of curiosity to change the color. Most likely be a whole lot of $$'s in the thousands though. Thats basically a new paint job, and a new paint job usually costs thousands of $$'s for a good quality job.

Another thing you should think about before repaintint.... is that if you own the car...when you want to resell it...the dealer or whom ever is going to buy it won't ever know if you painted it because someone keyed it or because you wrecked it.....each part of your car has your VIN # on it. If you paint it then it will cover the VIN #'s....Just a thought..

BTW, keep the ABP, I get compliments on the color every day, it's too awesome, and is exclusive to the Type-S!

 

Then it's not a random thing, and it should be easier for you to find out who done it. First, you have to file a police report. As distasteful as it is to go to the cops, do it. Then put your ear to the ground, suss people up and find out who did it. If you can't, get your GF to do it. And dude, if she won't, then she's protecting someone. That's just wrong all around.

So what you should is destroy some of his property get some fines and that's it. Assualt, Assualt with a deadly weapon, or even manslaghter will change your life forever.
