Got in a small fender bender today when a 16yo chick hit me in the parking lot. She hit me on the drivers side front bumper and fender. I noticed under the hood that there is muddy looking fluid near the abs module. I know the brake fluid shouldn't be a muddy brown, but it is the only place I can guess that it came from on the opposite side of the hood from impact. If it was abs, why the hell would it all of the sudden leak like that? Any ideas?

 

Is the fluid in the resv. brown? Is it low? Ever replaced it? Maybe it's now leaking-

 

Nope. PS and brake fluid just replaced in the last 10k. I just checked both of em and they don't really look like this. Theyre more of a dark color.

 

blown front or rear motor mount? they are fluid filled with a strange oil

 

Sounds like the passenger side mount is leaking.

the pass side mount is fluid filled too? I had a front leak a few years ago

Yea the motor mount may just be it. I knew they had fluid but didn't realize it could leak out. Under my hood looks like whatever it was sort of "splattered" brown muddy liquid all over the passengers side engine bay even though it is not all that much fluid. Hope insurance doesn't hassle me about fixin that.

 

and you ck'd the ps fluid level is between the lines when operating?

anything with fluid can, and will.. eventually leak~

 

Yea its between the lines. Plus I opened it to double check the color and it is nothing like the color of the spilled fluid. Thanks for all of the ideas and input.
