Got an Estimate and Not Sure About Parts

I got an estimate and saw a whole bunch of parts that I've never heard of.

I was just wondering if these would be legit parts for a transmission rebuild?

Converter
Overhaul Kit - I was thinking this was all I'd need
Servo Body
Clutch Guide 4th and 5th
Transmission Strainer

I'm also wondering if these would be covered under an estimate that says "includes necessary transmission and differential part" that is a completely different price?

I think I'm getting nickled and dimed to get a higher price than the original estimate.

want to give us a clue what you are talking about?
Is a trans shop giving you estimate `after teardown` revealed more parts needed?
Year and miles? have they said it needs a new PCM?
Why is a shop touching it?

Overhaul kits are often just the gasket and seal sets- not the other extras that are needed parts--its a labeling thing in the industry

Agree. They hive you a base line of wear parts that they replace in a rebuild. Once apart they tell you what else needs replacing (stuff they dont know till they get inside it)

You guys actually gave me more or less the answer I was looking for. I was thinking the overhaul kit included everything.

I have a 02 TL S and am getting the tranny rebuilt. They gave me one price and once they opened it up said all this other stuff was broken.

The converter is $650 (for the part). It doesn't say torque converter, it just says converter Type S.

This isn't at the dealer. This is at a transmission shop. The dealer wanted $3750 plus another $700 for the EGR kit.

Hold on.
Will be back.
Going to fetch more info.

While I am away please answer the four very important question 01tl4tl asked in post #2.

Is a trans shop giving you estimate `after teardown` revealed more parts needed?
Year and miles?
have they said it needs a new PCM?
Why is a shop touching it?

The dealer said it doesn't need a new computer. The trans shop tore down the transmission and found those other problems. The year is 2002 and mileage a little under 135,000. A shop is touching it because the dealer said it was $3,750 and they didn't want to help out on the cost. The shop is much less, no matter how you look at it.
