getting trim around windows repainted

i just felt like adding another post... i'm dropping my car off @ the dealer to have the trim around my windows repainted, had some condensation in my left foglight, having them check out all of the orange peel on my car, & getting my brakes fixed(warped rotors) took 3 weeks for them to have a loaner for me... oh well...

Umm, I wouldn't recommend doing that. Are you talking about the trim that is real shiny? If you paint that it will peel. The paint is like molded in there somehow.

That's the part i'm talking about. take it to the dealer and they should repaint it under warranty. It's the black trim right next to the window, Mine started to bubble a little around 3 of the 4 windows, they're redoing all 4. Should be done thursday.

repainting? Isn't it some sort of adhesive they have on there? Shouldn't they apply a new sheet of adhesive? Mine is bubbling too.

are they just gonna spray paint over it? cause if it's paint...it's really thick layer.... it feels more like a black latex

This is a known issue with the car. The dealer will fix it under warranty. However, it is a very time-consuming process as they have to completely disassemble the door (the trim piece is an integral part of the door frame). Expect to leave your car for most of the day.

Some dealers may take the easy way out and remove the bad trim and paint it. But to do it right the trim should be replaced with like material.
