Question Getting Tint - Have Questions

Hi Guys,
I finally took the plunge and made an appointment to have tint installed on my 00 WDP. His standard Llumar install is 35% front and 20% back. The appointment is Friday and I wondered if these percentages were adequate. I still have time to change my mind. I appreciate any and all input. Thanks in advance.

I didn't like the 2 shades so I went with 35% all around. It looks more uniform.

20% and 35% are not that much different..

if you want the uniform shade.. I say go for

all of the sides 35% and only the rear windshiel at 20%.. especially with a black interior..

I just got mine tinted last night, and I got the 35% all the way around - I too like that uniform look.

Just don't roll your windows down for a couple of days and leave it in the sun to let it truly bond to the window. I also got non-metallic for the rear and I only went up to the dot matrix part, because I didn't want to affect the radio reception or the NAV. Looks great though!!

Good luck!

bachviet, that looks really nice.. but 13% vs 35% looks so much different in the pic.. I still like it.. I'm never going to have a car without tint again..

btw, are those tails aftermarket or did you clear the OEM ones?? I've only seen one other Accord with those type of tails.. I like em..

I believe you aren't supposed to tint the front 2 windows here in CA either - but that didn't stop me! As long as it's not limo-tint obvious and fairly light, most cops won't waste their time with that - besides, I believe it's just a fix-it ticket.

Actually you could tint the front two windows @ a whooping 70% (real light).... Whenever I see cops, I just roll down my windows and move along! Thanz for the compliments and the rear tail lights are aftermarket red/clear tail lights! The new 01 and 02 Accords have OEM red/clear but the positions are swapped (clear @ the bottom), which don't look as nice as mine! :p

Yeah, that's true - I actually know a guy who will tint the windshield! Just do it a small amount so it's not noticeable (since you can't roll that one down! ) . Enough to make the xenons from other cars not seem quite so bright, you know!?!

Now, of course, he wouldn't admit to doing it - that's for sure!! :p

I just got 35% metallic. Its pretty light looking out and like a mirror at most angles. Certain angles you can see into it. I love it! Except my grilfriend banged the glass with the seatbelt buckle... I was so pissed! I still am pissed!! Just happend like 20 minuts ago. I didn't get mad at her though, she was really sorry. I'll see if the homie can't redo that window when I take it in to have the tints touched up... seeing as how when he was using the heat gun on the rear window HE DROPPED IT and dinged my trunk lid! He is hooking my up though, getting that ding, a door ding, and a bumper scratched fixed through his homie.

SlyTLs and his brother CasperCL98 have their windshields tinted and it looks awesome. I think they did it 50%.

50% is probably too much... the guy that tinted my car had a van with its windshield tinted. Couldn't really tell! He said cops never really noticed either.

35% is good. I have those all around... I also have 5% tint on the moon-roof. It really cuts down on the heat coming in when the moon-roof is tilted open.

Thanks, everyone, for your input. I decided to go with the 35/20 and I'll get it back sometime this afternoon. JR - I went to the guy Regal recommended but a company closer to where I live would do it for the same money. He was recommended by a friend who had 3 or 4 cars done there. It is Custom Auto Tint on Edgewood Drive. BTW, whereabouts you live here? I'm in the SE part of town

Well, the tint turned out great! The 35/20 is a good mix and the difference isn't all that noticeable. But what a difference both in overall appearance and inside temp! If you've been debating doing the same, I'd say go for it! JR - I know exactly where you live and wouldn't mind leaving closer to the beach myself, but any coastal county's COL is a lot higher than here. Redneck though it may be, Polk is one of the most affordable places in the whole country to live. You just have to know where the rednecks ain't!

Don't get 35 up front. I had 20 all around put in today. They gave me the blurb about "legally we can only go 35 up front". I asked how much for 20 all around. They will do it (no extra charge), but it has to be cash with no receipt. 35 up front and 20 in back does not look as good. How could it, it's different shades!

It shouldn't have to be cash with no reciept, thats bull****. Its legal for them to put it on your car but illegal for you to drive with it on there. This is what my installer guy said and he is a pro. Otherwise it would be illegal for tint shops to even carry tint that is too dark.
