I was actually gonna post a new thread asking opinion on whether I should do it or not. You are talking about that grill behind the Acura emblem in the front right? I have the SSM body and wanted to paint the grill silver as well. My main concern is if I do that, will I cause the Acura emblem to be less pronouced? Will it look rice? Does anyone out there with a SSM did it or can someone photochop one for my reference? Thanks guys.

I painted the lower grill myself, I wouldn't paint the grill between the headlights, but it might be interesting.

Hum...sounds like you guys are in favor of it. Alright then, I'll give it a shot once the weather gets warmer (believe or not, it's June now and we in Chicago still hasn't seen 70F yet). I wouldn't be surprise if it actually snows.

:wow: That looks awesome EvoRTL-S! Thanks for the pic. Now I'm definitely doing it. IMO, it actually enhances the Acura (in your case, the Honda) emblem instead of drowning it. Not rice either. Very nicely done. Can you tell me what paint you used? Did you also clearcoat it after painting? I assume you take the grill out before painting. Was it difficult? Last time I stuck my head in there, it doesn't seem hard at all, just a few plastic hooks right? Some tips would be very much appreciated. Anything I should watch out for?

Ya I know, that's what I'm worrying about too. That's why I asked Evor if he had used clearcoat to prevent chipping. So, you don't think it's a garage DIY kind of project huh? Since u are planning on taking your baby to a bodyshop for this job, it would be very helpful if you can ask them what their process is. How many coats are they applying? etc... Thanks man.

that looks so so hott man def love it infact after seein urs is what convinced me to do so plaus the fact u said it hasnt chipped im gonna get the mesh painted only because my car is white and dont think it will look right leavin it black.....axelback i know w my car which is pearl white the paint alone is a 3 step process that i know cause i had to have my bumper painted and w my color the body shop told me it was a 3 step process so u decide for me the price wasnt bad and it saves me a headache and the body shop is willin 2 take the responsability and if they f up its on them.....peace

bloo_tls02,
Thanx much

axleback,
Thanx much also ...i used some spray paint fron kragen...it was the closest match i can find...i think it was called artic silver? you need to get a plastic adhesive promoter and a can or two of clear cloat...it all depends on how much layers you wanna put on...i did like 8 coats of clearcoat...no chipping so far and it really shiney...as for the grille removal...really straight forward...just some plastic clips and some screws for the chrome pieces...hope this helps...if not...post up more questions and i'll try to answer them...Laters

EvoRTL-S,
Is the plastic adhesive promoter also made by Kragen? I'm gonna stop by AutoZone tonight and see if I can find some. Better yet, if you could tell me exactly what paint you used, it'd be very helpful. So far, I'm gathering that you used a can of Kragen adhesive promoter. Let it dry and then apply the Kragen artic silver paint (multiple coats), and finally the Kragen clearcoat protectant (8 coats). Is that about right? Thanks again dude.

axleback...its not kragen brand...just the spraypaint they carry...doesnt really matter on what brand you use...just dont use the cheap stuff tho...you basically summed it all up...but i painted it in the sun so that the paint can dry faster...

Hey nym31mp, how's the paint job going? I just bought some paint made by Dupli-Color. I'm gonna paint my grill this weekend.

Mr. , I spent about a few hours last weekend painting the grill. I have to say that I truly love it and already got a couple of compliments from strangers. It wasn't difficult at all. However, I can't seem to get that smooth feel like the clearcoat finish on our car. When I run my hand across the surface, it's rough like sand paper. I used some clear enamel and painted over the silver paint but it didn't do jack. Any suggestions out there from those that had already done this? Pictures will be up this weekend.
