Sorry to stray from the topic - but I like the Honda "H" in front better than the new Acura "A".

Hey, I dunno if it's just my friend pulling mah nutz or something but he has a really fast TL. Everything's stock on it too but he freakin chirps his tires in 2nd and 3rd. He says it's cuz he had the Saber Type-R chip in his TL, I kinda believe him cuz he blew his tranny, cuz it revved up to 7000RPM.

Question

Maybe I am crazy but I dont think that they offer the TL in Japan. I think it is just an American and Canadian production car. Now if I am wrong they I am curious as to what the name of the TL is in the pic's.

If you have seen his car redline at 7000 then he does have a chip. Aftermarket ECU upgrades usually raise your redline about 500 or so. If he does, I want the chip, they probibly (depending on the maker) ad about 20-30 HP.

Like I said, the chip was from a Saber Type-R which I would assume is the Japanese equivalent to the Type-S or could be like how they have an Accord Type-R but you know how in Japan they all get to over do things more. But I'll see if I can get more info on it the next time I see him.

Im pretty sure that the Inspire TL is not being exported to Japan. Only the US version is made in Ohio (I dont know about Canada). If there is a TL in Japan I am pretty sure that it isnt called the TL, it probibly has a different name. Alot of japanese hondas have different names and differnet engines.

I could be wrong though, correct me if someone knows

The TL is made in ohio along with the honda inspire and also the honda saber. Both cars are built for the japanese market. They are basically the same except you can get a 2.5 liter V-6 along with out 3.2 liter V-6. Also they have cloth interiors and other neat gadgets we don't have like my favorite fog lamps.

Actually , someone from the CL board is trying to get our shiftgate chromed out and see if we can get someone to make them.

Also 4 is considered badluck in jap, korea, china, because when you write the character 4 in chinese its a square box and a upside down v. the upside down V is a charcater for human and the box is well I don't know. but I heard that since a person is in side of a box, its just bad luck...

In korea, if you go to any building, or apartment in the elevator the 4th floor will be labeled F instead of 4.

YES, Inpsire Tail lights that so many pre-type s owners have, have DOT numbers on them. And correct me if I'm wrong, but Japan doesn't have a Dept Of Trans., they have a nagasaki sushi mitsubishi whatever they wanna call it.

That's bizarre!

OK, I understand the unlucky number thing (When I was a kid, my grandparents lived on the 13th floor of a highrise in Queens. Only it was numbered "14". "Whew, now we're safe!") But how do you shift into 4th gear???? I guess you have to use the SS? Too strange.

And I like the TL's equipment more than the Inspire. But for some people, the grass is always greener...

A Cantonese friend of mine suggested that the word for "4" sounds a lot like "death" and is therefore unlucky.

Yep, that's what it is. At least in China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. It's the sound, not the writting...

Japanese cars are right side drive so, guess what! The tranny shift gate is the mirror image of ours and won't work otherwise I would have brought one a long time ago. Too bad though.

By the way they save money that way because the shift gate is probably the same as 99 Inspire
