Gauging Interest- Gloss Black B Pillar Vinyl Overlays

Hey guys,

I have a buddy that owns a sign shop that I am going to have make me some new center cap overlays and also some replacement vinyl overlays to cover up those nasty sun faded b pillars. I know pretty much everybody with a 2nd gen has this problem so I wanted to see how much interest there was in producing these for AcuraZine

The vinyl itself is 8 year rated top of the line outdoor vinyl. The overlays will be the exact size of the two b pillar sections. All you will need to do is clean the existing surface and apply the new vinyl with a squeegee (sp). Pricing would most likely be $40/set (Includes all 4 pieces) plus shipping. Please begin/add to a list if you are interested Pics will come soon of my set which I'm having made in the next couple of weeks.

This is a MUCH cheaper alternative to having acura take apart your windows, and replacing the whole set of panels, which costs hundreds of dollars, and only you will know the difference.

does it just go ontop of the pillar, or do we have to take it out and wrap it, ie. exposing edges?

It will go right on top of the pillar- you can tuck the top and bottom edges under the factory rubber that is there. Should take about half an hour to replace them all

Oh, definitely wanna see pics before getting on the list. Kinda pricey for something I could easily purchase a whole roll of for less price.

THE OFFICIAL GROUP BUY RULES

It is all right for you to run this feeler thread and find out how many people will be interested in this.

You should contact the vendor and find out how many people he would need in order to establish prices and specifications. Since you already have an idea of the price, you would only need to find out the minimum number of people he would need. Do not post any information concerning the name of the business until he has actually signed on as a vendor.

When you reach that minimum, you can let him know and he would have to contact astro by email at robb.astro(at)gmail(dot)com to make arrangements to become a vendor and post in the Sponsored Sales & Group Buys forum.

That would start the ball rolling, and each interested member could visit the Sponsored Sales & Group Buys forum to arrange for purchase and delivery.

We would appreciate it if you would not attempt to circumvent these procedures, since they are designed both for your protection and to provide revenue to this forum so it can continue to serve all the members.

I'm interested, but definitely would need to see the pics first. I'm worried about the vinyl tearing from any stones or rocks while driving, or even when I'm washing the car.

Thanks and I look forward to the pics.

Count me in. 8yr outdoor vinyl quality sound much better than cheap overlays you can cut yourself. I was thinking of repainting them, but it wouldn't look glossy enough.

The pillars are covered with a vinyl from the factory, these overlays will be even better quality. This should not be a concern

A pillar-where the windshield connects to the front door/fenders, b-the middle one, and c is where the rear window connects to the trunk/rear quarter panel

Also- the overlays will be strictly for the B pillar for now. The problem with overlays for the little part you are having trouble with is there are a lot more curves to go around.

You can actually do it yourself if you have Gloss Vinyl Plotter, and it is durable too.

Zac,

You know I am interested. I remember you saying something about this at the meet last week, but I didn't think that you would be posting on it this soon. That's great! I look forward to the pics!

I just ordered vinyl plotter from signwarehouse.com The stuff is cheap. I ordered 6yr high gloss oracal vinyl in gloss black from them in a roll of 8'' by 15'yds (the smallest amount you can buy) to do my door pillars with. I'll post up a DIY with the final product.

I'm interested as well, I was also thinking about painting my pillars SSM to match my paint. This would be a much cheaper alternative, though.
