Gas pedal pissin me off...please help

Hey men. I've got this stupid freakin problem with my 03 TLS.......when i lightly (or normally) press on my gas pedal, it doesn't go, then just goes in suddenly.....not so much that you'd have a hard time pressing, but enough to give an uncomfortable (and embarrasing) jolt when coming out of a light, or intersection. Before i take it to the dealer, i wanted to know if there was a DIY grease/lube job i could do to the gas pedal mechanism or something....i'd really appreciate it....it's definitely taking away from the TL's sweet assness....thanks. -shawn

you can try looking for kinks in the cable before it goes into the protective case by the throttle body. the throttle body may be sticking a little, try pulling on the lever that the cables pull on (on the throttle body) and see if it sticks or is hard to move. it may need to be cleaned out

you may have slack or gunk on the throttle cable. But it sounds to me like you have a problem with the TPS(throttle positioning sensor). I had the same problem and it was a bitch to adjust. First of all, Acura for some reason, brakes the heads off the screws so you cant adjust the tps. My mechanic had to put fresh screws in the tb and he used an o meter to get the car back to stock specs. After that, the car was running awesome again.

no man your trottle body is junked up. just use some T/B cleaner and it'll be good as new. I've fixed that exact same problem on my 02 TL-S and other cars also.

if it was carbon buildup, he would have less power, not a sticky pedal.

It would probably idle a little too low also.

That delay in response is something we used to call a 'dead spot' many moons ago when carb-ed engines were the norm. This 'dead spot' just so happens to be in the very beginning.
