Full time gear display

Does anybody know if there is a mod to make gear LED work while in automatic mode, not just SS mode?

I think it has been discussed previously, and I dont think anyone could find a way to make it work. I'm not sure though, but the topic does sound pretty familiar!

I read that there is a 10 pin plug at the shifter. Does any body know or can look up in the wiring diagram if one of the wires is responsible only for turning on the gear LED? Then this mod could be as easy as adding a jumper or switch for that wire.

I think that light is controled by the ECU. The ecu throws the gear number up after you select up or down. as far as i know there is no way to do it

Mazda 6 does it. It would be pretty cool to know which gear you are at all the time.
