I was in a little accident in Buffalo NY and the guy who hit me said he was going to pay me cash....so i took down his information!
I lost all his information....and all i have left are the digital pictures of his plate!
Is there anyway I can use his plate and get his contact information???

Always go through insurance. It is nicer to help the guy out of course. But he should have been more careful then. He is under NO obligation to pay for anything if you don't call the cops and get a police report. If there is ANY damage, unless he gives you cash right there and you are satisfied with the amount (very unlikely to happen), then go through insurance.

I suggest you call the Buffalo police or the DMV office to run the plate for identification. You're insurance company can likely do this for you' but it will be a real pain. Also' I would always stay away from cash deals.

I don't mean to be un-sensitive, but this guy can royally screw you. First there has to be a reason he offered cash. Secondly you should ALWAYS get a police report. Thats the only proof you have that the accident occured at all. This guy can technically say he never met yiou and walk away. At this point you'll have to pursue him by yourself, and try and get him to pay via the court system at this point (unless you have some muscle on your side ). Just my .02

hmm
Well, it's a little weird...first of all it happened on private property....walmart lot....secondly, i'm a canadian and it happened in the states. So...my insurance would cover it under the no fault policy we have here in ontario.
The accident was small...i took the qx4 into the bodyshop i go to and the quote was 150 canadian.
We also got the guy to sign a declaration that he had hit us...and it was his fault as we wern't moving.
I felt we had our bases covered....and I didn't think it was worth having it on our insurance record. Even if it's not your fault....too many accidents will raise your rates.
I hope i didn't make a mistake.

So long as you cover your bases and get the guy to sign a piece of paper saying he hit you and you have all his insurance information then you should be fine. Why involve insurance if you don't have to? The same thing goes for the cops, why get a police report when there is no need. Exchange information and go on your way. I know in Arizona, the cops won't even show up if you have an accident on private property, i.e. a walmart parking lot.

I agree
I agree,
why go to cop and insurance when u can finish it up by urself. going to insurance always gets the insurance cost up and it will also show up on ur record that u had an accident ..
so, finish it up urself

In most cases when someone offers to pay cash, they don't have insurance or have some other problems.
At least in your case, the damage was minimal.
ALWAYS, ALWAYS get a police report. If the person does decide to pay cash, fine, but if you run into trouble, you then have insurance to fall back on.
Good luck.
