Fuel Injector cleaner

What kind of fuel injector cleaner is good? Is there anything else to get? How much do I put in?

Thank

I usually use the Techron (sp?) by Chevron. You can get both the additive or the cleaner.

Otherwise. not sure about others and any specific chemicals they have. And whether or not they could be harmful to our seals.

Not sure if one tank of Chevron gas has the same % of Techron as you would get with adding the additive.

I used to recommend adding the additive on your last tank or so of gas before an oil change. Seem to recall something to the effect of the increase in additives getting in to the oil. Might only apply to older cars whose rings and or valve guides are starting to allow some amount of blow by.

Even if it didn't, it might be a good way to make it part of your regular maintenance.

BG44K, expensive stuff ($17/bottle) and the bottle sucks (make sure you have a funnel to pour it in) but it'll clean your whole fuel system. This is only sold to mechnics and dealers so you need to find one that will sell it to you.

Run the tank dry, put in the cleaner (whatever you chose to use), and the fill the tank and drive like hell to run the cleaner through. Highway speeds are best.

The BG44K is good as medic says this is what my ACURA dealer puts in at different service intervals like 15K & 30K. You can buy the BG Supercharger 2 its a fuel cleaner used for regular fill-ups.
It cost about $10 a bottle & should be added every 1,000 miles.

As long as you are using Premium fule, your engine fule injector should be always clean. One of the main difference between regular and premium fule is that the additive in the premium fule is large neough to get rid existing crap, if you have some build up, on your injector where as regular can only prevent build up.

Not all gases have more detergents in their premium blends compared to their regular grade gas. thats a misconception; some do, but not all.
