fuel filter? fuel pump?
I filled up today with shell 91 and went to my friends car lot and chilled today. When i was ready to leave i started up my car and it started fine but right away starting sounding liek it was going out and stalled. Had it looked at and guys saying its either fuel pump or filter but they both are one part, is that true? He cleaned out the throttle body and car runs fine for now, but how long? Any ideas how i can troubleshoot this? thanks

the filter is a sock over the pump inside the gas tank...guess how easy that is to get to!
Only a fuel pressure guage will tell if thats the problem
Hows the spark plugs looking? pull one or 2 and check
Done the revised Seafoam method thru the big vac port right at the TB yet?

Something is missing...my
fuel pressure gauge at any auto parts store. Hook it up to the fuel supply line. It will measure your pressure. I don't know exact spec for this car but it should certainly be > 30 psi.
Also, it would figure that this "hotsoak" issue that a few people swear about is going on, but many many have had their cars for long whiles with no issue. Just would be ironic.
First guess for me would be
(a. may have gotten bad gas - it happens from time to time. did you fill up at same place as always, if so ask them if anybody else complained. watch your mileage and see if it is far less than usual. if you don't trend your mileage already, nows a good time to start; probably the most sensitive indicators to your drivetrain provided you have a routine driving schedule.
(b. make sure your air filter isn't filthy

Ground ?
So, In assuming that it was the fuel pump's ground, was it apparently loose or corroded ? Just some good things to pass along for others in a similar situation.

Well the ground was loose because what im thinking is when i got my components done the dude ground my amp out to that same wire. I noticed my cap beeping like its loosing power so i checked the ground and found it just laying there with the bolt out. I did raise hell with the guy that installed it to lol.

When something strange happens- I look at the last other thing done to the car for source of problems-- and there it usually is!!
