FU#*ED up my car last night. With a twist.

Yep, I FUBARed the TL last night... Figures

Tottaly my fault too. But heres the twist. I rear ended my best friends M5. Whoopsie.

Wow. I've been driving for 6 years, i've never been at fault in an accident.

We have the same insurance company so this should be fun.

Thats ok. Just a bumper for him. And i wanted a new hood and bumper neway, the hood had 2 dents and the bumper was sand blasted. Hey, this way i get new HID's too. And a radiator. Blessing in disguise is how we're looking at it. Pics.

Sorry to hear it. How fast were you going? Looks like more damage on your TL than on his M5.

"Blessing in disguise"? Better wait until you see your insurance rate next year before you decide. Not trying to be mean, just realistic.

I dont know about anyone else here but id be pretty pissed if anyone slammed into the back of my car while i wasnt moving. I cant see this as a blessing in anyway for anyone, i wonder if your friend is as happy about this as you are? Personally i would not be advertising that because of driver error that i caused thousands of dollars worth of property damage. The only good thing is no one got hurt.

No no, hes not pissed. hes my best friend dude... We have been joking about it all day. Its just a car, man. Just a car. And no one got hurt, i didnt hit him that fast. My car just got tottaly messed up cause my nose took a dive and i just lowered the thing... otherwise i would probably be looking at a bumper too. No big deal. sh!t happens. this one just happens to be my fault. oh well, live and learn.

I can see a bit of irony here--yeah, you can laugh such an accident off 'cuz it involved an understanding friend/buddy/whatever; however, what if it was the exact same situation, but instead it was a stranger who rear-ended you--would you be joking about it, or saying that it's "just a car"? Betcha dollars to donuts you'd be b!tching about how some dumb f*ck driver wasn't paying attention and rear-ended your previously-unblemished bling car and that you're friggin' pi**ed about the whole thing. Don't think so? Do a search in this forum and count how many "Some idiot hit my car"-type posts you'll find.

Don't get me wrong--it's great that two parties who know each other don't get all bent out of shape over accidents like what was mentioned in this thread; it's just too bad some people aren't willing to act the same way if it were someone else.

Sorry to hear about your accident.

What is that silver mesh like part that's on your grill and below your grill? Do they make those for 2002 TLS? Where do you get them?

since you have the same insurance co it shouldnt be too bad with the insurance companies....they normally dont take sides when you have the same co, so they would just pay out the damages and not increase your premium....at least thats what ive heard!!

good luck

Talking

Dude, that's harsh! But you're right, as much as we love our rides, they are just cars, and you guys are okay. Wondering if you can pull off the hood ornament and wear it like rappers do their Benz necklaces...

Just had the same kind of accident -- rear-ended a small chevy pick-up, if it was a car there probaly would have been no damage. Ended up that i need a new hood, bumber and headlights. Not a a srcatch on the other car. Thinking about having that balck trim on the bottom of that bumber painted. Anyone do this -- does the paint stay on the trim?????

I got it done...they didn't even charge me for it when they painted the car; they were happy they didn't have to mask it off

Man, its a good thing your front fender didnt get damaged! Those things are a pain, expensive to repair, and it never looks right again. It would be totally obvious it was repaired, or in an accident.

It doesnt look too bad, I've done worse with my old bull. You'll be up and running in no time.

Lucky you, you get a new hood and paint. My hood is pitted, chipped and stained from sap and bird poop that the previous owner neglected. I would love to get it "re-shot" with a new coat of paint. Its cool you are optomistic. Do look at it as a blessing!

good luck!

CMA2180,

Well, there are a few small chips (barely noticeable) but they didn't "flake off". I think there are from stones and/or the power washer I used one time toooo close when I was washing it.

Seriously.

It's only a blessing if it's the other guys fault entirely. And friend or not, I'd be pissed if my M5 was smashed up like that. That just means you werent paying attention while behind the wheel.

Hope you get everything straightened out, but brace yourself for your next insurance prem.
