Angry Front Plate Ticket

Was in Little Tokyo yesterday here in SoCAL. At first, I found a great spot on side of the street to park near. It was a metered parking place, so I put about a dollar worth money in it only to realize that they are not checked past 6PM. (It was 6 at the time =T) Afterwards, I went walked around the area with my girl and had a nice little dinner. At the end of the day, I found a ticket on the windshield when I got back to my car. At first I thought it was a parking ticket and was ready to fight for it. But then, I realize that the fine was only $25, and it was for a ticket of not having the front license plate >:T Yupz, an officer actually came by my car just to cite for not having the plate. Beware everyone....I am now considering to put it back on. Sigh.....stupid CA laws...

When I was in Philadelphia, I saw that no one had their front license plates on. I only saw NY and NJ plates in the front.

I had no front plate in NY until a cop gave me a 20 dollar ticket. It looks better without it but is it worth a ticket?

Sux...that's the reason why I put mine back on. True, it looks sooo much better without them. If you were present you can at least try to explain why the plates were off. You might even get away with it. But when you're not there to explain it's different story.

Yeah, it's sad that I am learning this first hand. That cop must have been bored to stop his patrol car and give me a ticket just for the front license plate. Oh well, at least he didn't cite me for the tinted windows. The tint tickets cost a grip.

The need for a front license plate depends on the state. It is required here in Hawaii (and most states) and I see 99.5% of cars on the road following the rules. Yeah it looks stupid, but that's the law.

Some States and Canadian Provinces only issue rear plates. Unfortunately here in Ontario, we need front plates installed. Cops nail the ones without front plates.

I didn't have mine on my car in VA for the longest time. Got stopped twice with no ticket, just a warning. The third time I got a ticket. Put the plate on and went to the court date and told the judge some lame story about it getting ripped off when the car got towed. He dismissed the ticket and told me to keep the plate on.

I got a warning about the plate then I put it in the corner of the windshield inside the car and have not had a problem since then.

Our cars look soooooo tight without the plate. Here in Minnesota, $100 bucks if you get caught without one. And the ol "my front bracket broke and got one on order" line don't work with the cops. My friend has an Escalade and got stopped. Shoot, he was in downtown Minneapolis where cops have bigger issues to deal with. Crazy ness. Here's a clean pic of the front without the plate

I have been going

without a front plate for over 14 yrs.. just pay the ticket and move on.. dont put it back, it isnt worth it... or do like another post I saw on another forum.. take your front plate to Kinko's, have them copy it on to some of that vinyl that sticks with static electricity and then use that one the front, plus you can take it off and put it back on anytime you want..
heckuva idea..

yeah LA is cracking down on no front plates...the a$$ holes. There was a news paper article about it a couple months ago. My brother got one after parking his car in the long term parking at LAX airport. So after paying whatever a day to park, he gets a ticket to beat. And its not dismissible, he had to pay the fine. Metermaids are A$$HOLES

How much was the ticket? I've heard it's $25 in Cali.
