Nice idea, but nah. Do you know how many of those guys drove their Bimmer off the lot just to have the thermostat go out an hour later, car over heating? A lot more than our trannies going bad. Sure, it's a smaller part, and easier to fix, but... more of a risk to damage other parts.
Now, if they made the 3er with the 4.0, I would be all over that.

 

Agreed, or you could buy a Porche boxster only to have the whole engine blow up on you withing 2,000 miles, was a pretty common occurance.

thanks and yes that is my car... the paint on the BMW doesnt seem thin at all.

 

Is it a 330? My wife had a 97 528i (white) and I don't recall ever having any paint issues with it but we did have a few minor glitches with electrical items. To be fair, she doesn't seem to have any paint issues with her 03 TLS either which is also white (WDP). She absolutely loved her bimmer and hated to have to turn it back in a couple of years ago. She really likes her TLS but as she says it's no BMW. She has been impressed though with how well the TLS can corner for a FWD car and the acceleration is much better than her 528i was. She is keeping her options open for the redesigned 5 series and should be in a good position to turn the TLS in at the end of her 3 year lease not long after the new 5 is supposed to come out. I tried to talk her into a 330i but she felt it was too small and she didn't like the open cupholders in the center console. Oh well, enjoy your fine ride bud!
