foglight replica housing

hi every one,

my driver side foglight lens has a crack and I'm thinking of replacing it.

ebay has some aftermarket ones made by TYC for a cheaper price.

i was wondering if any body has bought these before and how well are they performing so far?

i'm just afraid that the quality is no up to par with the oems.

let me know if you have them. thanks

well from what i hear the OEM's are glass and tend to break easier..im on the same boat as u as my passenger side is cracked..at the Chicago meet "Rajca" said he went to home depot and bought some Lexan for 10 bucks and cut it out himself and it looked really good too...i think imma go that route before the snow comes and my foglight housing gets more corroded..

a lot of people on here have boughten the lexan fog light housings off ebay and are very happy with them

one of my fogs currently have a chip in them so i just bought some rockblocker, placed it over and now it stays in place and won't break all the way, i hope.
if it does though i'll probably just go over to home depot and buy some lexan to make my own.

do a search on "lexan". It's very simple to do it yourself. For the cost of purchasing one on ebay you can get a whole sheet of Lexan and cut out a whole bunch of them.

Just a heads up. If you have gone through all the "lexan fog lense" threads, you'll notice that only the special MR10 type lexan can survive scratches and heat damages from the fog light bulb. All the regular type lexan will turn yellow and show heat damages after being used for a while.

thx for all the help guys, i saw the lexan diy but i think this will be a summer project. i've temporarily put a clear film (for cellphone screens) over the small crack in the lens to prevent water going in.

its holding up quite good and you can't really tell that there is a clear film on it until you really good up and look at it. i want to buy the rock blocker film , but he never replied to any of my pm's. does anybody know where else i can get these films in canada so that i can avoid the border duties?

thanks

i purchased a pair of depo fog light's (oem ebay knockoff)...they are identical to the oem fog light's, come with new bulb's, and you can get a pair for about $150 shipped

buy enough universal rockblocker sheet, to cover the lens on both fog's and your golden.

I would totally do it if someone can help me avoid the duties and extra taxes when they ship over the boarder to Canada.

it will come out to be like $250 for the set

I bought the $50 ebay lexan and i have Hoen xenon match bulbs in there. Burned the lexan right away looks kind of like it melted right in front of the bulb. Not sure if there is a lot of different lexan out there. I ended up buying the ebay foglight kit and they worked out great. Think i paid $119 +shipping. F1
