Fog lights wired to turn on without headlights
1) I was wondering if anyone wired their stock Fog lights to turn on without the headlights being on. This is posted in the FAQ section of this web site.
2) I was wondering if any of you have had any problems or noticed anything strange after you did it. I haven't done this but I just want to see if there are any downsides to doing this before I do it.
3)Also does anyone know if this can be done to the Inspire switch with Accord harness?

Thanks, I just need to make sure the five wires on my switch are the same as the 5 on the TL-S switch. I know they changed the backing shap and size of the pins so that we couldn't use the TL-S switch for 99-01 TL with Accord harness but maybe the order of the 5 wires is still the same.
Did you solder or use a 3M snap clip?

I used one of those snap clips, back in... June? No problems since, but I do drive with my headlights on all he time.
If you're handy with soldering, you can do that, but the clip is sooo easy. Removable, too.

this is for advanced diy'ers
all ya had to post was this:
1. take driver side fuse panel off
2. remove phillips screw to make this next step easier(removing panel not necessary)
3. now you can reach fog light switch from behind and get it to come out.
4. you have these wires:
1. White/Blue
2. Blue/Red
3. White/Red
4. Red/Black
5. Red
5. splice and attach wires 3 and 4
6. reassemble
7. done.
[b]so if you dont want to read through all those instructions and have dealt w/switches and any car panels before(they are usually similiar, especially the honda ones) and you can get this done w/out the 10 minutes (sic) it takes to read the instructions...5 mins, maybe???

Tried it and it doesn't work for the 99-01's running the Accord fog light setup. The relay starts buzzing. I think one of the wires we have to splice is in the light switch on the steering column. That may be how it knows the lowbeams are on. When we installed ours, we had to run 2 wires to that switch there. The switch I am refering to is the one you turn to get parking then lowbeams on and pull back to use high beams. Ill try that when I have more time.

They work exactly like stock, with the exception of being able to run them with only the "park lights". so YES they turn off with the high beams.
The crimp connectors are also availabe at Radio Shack. # 64-3053 (see picture below).

When you used those crimp connector(pic above), did you have to splice the wires? From my understanding of those crimp connector..don't they cut the two wire in halves and the connection is made through the metal thing.
thx

hey nighthawk, i have been wondering the same thing. i have a 99 accord and came across this topic. i had to plug two wires up on top of the steering column as well. when i first started to play around with it i connected two wires with a jumper to the fog light switch and it worked on the parking light but i got the buzzing sound too, but when i turned it on to the headlight it went away and when i turned on my highbeams my foglights were still on. i always drive with my parking lights on and i would love to have my fogs working with parking lights. i am not electronically inclined so if you figure out how to do it would you let me know.
thanks
thanks

I guess eveyone else already replied to you... Thanks guys..
One thing that no one mentioned which I would like to add is that the connector is sort of blocked on one end. This is because they dont expect you to be "shorting" two wires. Its ment to "tap" into a feed, For eg. You may have a 12V and you need to tap into it so .. you insert the 12V wire (no cutting, just slip in on to the connector) and then just insert your wire as far as it can go and then crimp.
To make it usable for our application where we want to "short" two continuous wires together (without cutting them) ... Just take a small drill bit and drill out the tab, then you can slide both wires over the guides and crimp it down.
Hope this is clear to everyone... if not I'll post some more pics as soon as I can borrow someones dig. cam.
