Fog Light Wiring Question
Fog Light Wiring Question
Hi all, I have a 1999 3.2 TL. There was no fog lights on my baby. A friend donated a set of Honda driving lights that will fit perfectly. I am not sure what vehicle they came off of.
THey are 55w H11 connector type driving lights. I found a wiring harness that will allow me to connect my lights.
I do not want to "tie into" the existing HID headlamps so I want to wire it seperately.
I have a wiring harness that runs from my lights to a relay and it has a seperate in line fuse (30 amps??). My questions are...
1) What amp fuse should I use (the wiring harness is no specifically for the driving lights)?
2) Is it safe for me to connect the power source directly to the battery (positive terminal)?
3) there is a single wire that is supposed to go to the on off switch but I do not have a switch yet. Can I install any switch. I have an illuminated switch from a paper shredder that is no longer working. Can I use that? But then how do I run power to it and should the switch be fused?
Any help is great.

2)Yes, as long as you have a fuse between the lights and the battery you should be fine. Just don't insert the fuse until ALL of your wiring is finished.
3)I am not sure, but you probably will need a switch designed for dc 12 volt. You can get one at radio shack for $2 that will work.
I'm not sure how much experience with wiring you have, but you will likely need
-electrical tape
-crimpers and crimps or a soldering iron and solder
-zip ties will help
-possibly a new + battery terminal that accepts extra wiring if you want the install to be clean and not rigged (maybe 5$ at autozone or walmart)
-a drill if you wish to install the switch into the dash, or some double sided tape if you do not
