Fog Light Cracked

Hey Guys,

I took a look today at my fog lamps and the front cover is cracked. Do i have to buy a new housing or can I just get a new cover? There is condensation inside of my housing.

Thanks,

Burt

You can get a sheet of lexan from Home Depot for real cheap, the hard part is cuting it out, but after that its a piece of cake.

Mine just cracked too, this is so frustrating. Why not make them plastic like the headlights?

You have to be very careful and break the glass without damaging the inside reflective coating. what i did was use a heatgun to melt the Hondabond adhesive and then slowly break/crack the glass in pieces and remove it from the housing. Or, you could use the oven technique, either one should work. The oven technique may work better because then the glass can be removed as one whole piece, and you can use it as your template for the plexi. I can help you out, probably on a weekend. PM me Cutting the plexi and shaping it is the hard part. and mine still has some hazing... you'll have to see it in person. I think i just need to redo the adhesive. maybe a weekend job

oven and heat gun wont help cus the adhesive is silcoln, doesnt get soft in heat...i just replaced mine tonight...and took of the shield while i was at it....anyways just use a flat head and pry between the glass and the case....also dont apply glue to the new piece, what you wanan do is cut the new lens out and then place it on the fog housign and then glue it from the outside and let it seep in that way its looks clean an flawless when the frame is over it....

Not plastic, like a wiffle ball bat, but the plexi-plastic (or whatever it is) that is used to protect the head lights.

xpel does wonders for small rocks but when you get those big ones the glass is gonna go wheather you like it or not...plus xpel only guarentees impacts up to 110 mph, so see thing that you drive 80 on average, and a rock flys back at like 40 mph...thats a combine speed of 120...bye bye fogs..hehe

very true, but i cracked my first lens on my second trip or from back and forth from san jose / los angeles. since them i replaced it, put on xpel, and after another 10x trips it's still going very strong, and i always go at 90+ mph and of course, if the strong is that big, nothing can stop it, hehe
