I guess I should qualify this reply with "warning this might be ricey and or dangerous."

Typically, you can ignite the unburned fuel in the exhaust because old carbeurated musclecars run very rich. The unburned fuel comes out the exhaust and you just ignite it with spark plug and trigger.

The TL probably can't shoot flames. The engine is pretty efficient and the cat will do its job so there's probably not enough fuel coming out the pipe to light. What you could do it put a sprayer - maybe a fuel injector - next to the spark plug and you'll get the fire. The hard part will probably be getting air to get a good fuel mixture and not blow yourself up.

I saw those stuff on cardomain. There was this one guy with a INfiniti G20 who had created a remote trigger that would trigger flames to come out with a press of a button on his keychain. He shouldn't be that hard to find..he's one of the few in the front pages..of course this was hella days ago last time i went there. I believe he was selling these things also on his site.

unless you take out the cat and then go with the normal trigger/spark plug set up. even then keep in mind, that setup was for the fuel rich cars. it may need more components.

here you go, there's the answer in bold writting!
Q: Will the "Got Flames?" kit work on E.F.I. (electronic fuel injection) cars, trucks, or motorcycles ?
A: Yes and no. It will work on almost any E.F.I. car, truck, or motorcycle without a catalytic converter provided it does not have 4 or 6 cylinder engine ( motorcycles are exempt from this, but still can't have a catalytic converter). Cars or trucks with E.F.I. need to have an 8 cylinder engine or bigger to shoot flames. If you have an E.F.I. 4 or 6 cylinder engine with a turbo, N.O.S. , or major engine horsepower modifications the kit will work. If your car will not shoot flames using this basic kit you can still have some options ( see Mega Got Flames kit/plans on the Flame Kits page). Catalytic converters burn off gasses the motor doesn't burn therefore there is nothing to burn at the end of the tailpipes. You can remove the catalytic converter if you have one, but I do not recommend this as there are laws in every state that require you to have a properly working catalytic converter on your vehicle. There are fines for not meeting these laws.

not sure if it will work with our cars, but here is the basic (real basic) DIY....

First about 3 inches from the tip drill a hole and put in your spark plug, from that you will need to run electrical wire to a switch in the car now using a separate wire from the switch to your engine coil and there you go. I worked a radios shack for a little while a couple guys came in and bought the neccessary parts to do this to their mothers car, I asked if when they were done would they bring the car by to show me and they did, mind you the car that it was done on was slightly old lincoln continental (exhaust tips were just under the bumper lip facing down) and wouldn't you know it.....when they first must have hooked it up there were burn marks on the bumper and when they fired it up and did it in the radio shack parking lot they burned right through the bumper.....but it looked dope....oh the fun I could have if someone was tailing me..................

Just be careful, flames setups are not street legal and if a cop sees you driving down the street you will be pulled over and fined.

Yep, ya beat me to it. Also, seems kinda out of place on a TL.

Well, we've all seen in done before, either in person or in movies, i.e., 2F2F. But, yes, "Pimp My Ride" was probably one of the first places to demonstrate this nationally.
