Fixed my foglight crack
My foglight got cracked by a big rock yesterday. The Acura parts dept. want to charge me $216 for the entire foglight housing, and I naturally balked at that.
So I went about disassembling the foglight housing. It turns out that I could seal the crack with some transparent caulk. It is not a permanent solution, but you guys may want to check out the construction of the fogs, in case you want to do tinting or some other stuff with it.
The rock probably hit the metal trim which then flexed and caused the glass to crack.
Here's the picture of the finished product, with a layer of transparent caulk over the crack.

On the bottom side there are three metal tabs that press against the plastic housing. Bend these tabs out with a flat head screwdriver and you can take the metal trim out. It may be difficult to remove the trim; the trick is to push the trim aside as you lift it open (the top side metal tabs are attached to set of slanted plastic hooks. You must push the trim aside to work them free).
Here is the picture of the fog light with the trim removed. Note that although the lens is cracked, the factory silicone caulking is still holding all the pieces in place.
Here's the finished product. You can still see the crack, but hopefully it won't leak. We'll see when the next downpour hits how good of a job I've done.
At night the crack is invisible, since the foglamp doesn't illuminate the cracked area at all.
