FIT and FINISH of your TL-S
I was a little concerned with the quality of the TL-s after reading a couple of posts from TL-S owners who reported having some problems with their cars, such as leaky rubber door moldings, noises in the dashboard, cheap interior knobs/buttons, etc. How's the fit and finish of your TL-S?

The fit and finish is SOLID. I've gotta say it feels much more solid over bumps than our '99 E320 -- I just complained again to the service manager over at Benz at how lousy their service is and how lousy the long-term fit and finish of their cars are.

There is one flaw in mine - the gaps on the left doors are different than on the right. The l/r door has a larger gap between it and the 1/4 panel. The dealer will fix it whenever I want to bring it in and they will give me a loaner. Haven't had it fixed yet - hate the idea of some car lot jockey driving my car to the body shop to get it adjusted.

My car was sent to the body shop and my ashtray full of quarters were jacked. REMOVE EVERYTHING from you car before you send it to them.

The only flaw I found was that the right tailpipe was about 1/2 inch lower than the left. The dealer's service department fixed it very quickly, while I read a car magazine and enjoyed a free cup of freshly brewed coffee. Great car!

Mines tight as a drum too. Every product has a bad unit now and then. When you pick out the one you want, make sure you don't get blinded by your desire to own it. Check it out thoroughly, and take it for a LONG test drive.

I'm curious as to what sort of paint defect would cost $6,000 to repair? I'd imagine a defect that big would have been easily spotted during a test drive... did it occur after you took the car home?
