First ticket!

Was travelling on a 35 road at 48 (13 over speed limit) minding my business. Y'all know how you dont notice how fast you are driving in a TL.

Cop pulled me over. I asked if he could atleast give me a warning but he wouldnt. I guess it was the end of the month and the Cops probably have quotas to meet. Damn.

edited-->>>I now have to pay $105 + defensive driving.
I now have to pay $65 + defensive driving + $10 for driving record
I am in Texas

I was thinking about contesting it but not sure if I should.

Thanks for listening.

In PA:

1) Ticket quotas are illegal
2) The cop doesn't HAVE to ticket you..it's 100% his decision

That is partially WRONG ... well at least for HOUSTON cops. There is no quotas (legally) but there is a hidden quota system. Basically, there is a list...the more the officer writes tickets, it'll boost his name to the top of the list...those who write out less, will be on the bottom. At the end of the month, whoever on the bottom (determined by the department) will have to do the "dirty work" like filing reports, office duties or whatever...which nobody likes to do. This info was taken straight from a cop's mouth..one of my friend.

Don't sweat it, I've gotton 30 tickets in the past 2 years. Just send that bad boy to the lawyer, its your first offense, you'll get off easy

But thats going to cost more money right?.. Currently I just have to pay $105 + def driving. I would love to plea my case to the judge and tell him this was my first ticket.

Even without a lawyer, what if I contest my citation and loose? Doe the ticket appear as permanent record? Do i still have the option of defensive driving + clean record after I loose?

Hey man,
I don't know where you live, but I live in Florida, and you can pay a lawyer about 70-80, and they get you off meaning you have no points, but you still have to pay the ticket. If you go to court yourself and just tell the judge it's your first ticket, you will probably receive an answer such as "There's a first time for everything, and this is yours" which would result in you paying the ticket and receiving points. I would just say go to traffic school, and then if you get another ticket, you can resort to court. Hope that helps.

ok here's teh truth. it's ILLEGAL to have a quota system for law enforcement on ticketing. however, there is an UNOFFICIAL ticketing system in ALL area, as a result to evaluate the PERFORMANCE of the individuals. don't argue with me, i got this info right from the traffic school instructor. he admitted that.

to me that's ridiculous

30 tickets in 2 years? Either you're not worried (or don't care) about getting pulled over or your awareness skills may be a bit lacking...
