Angry Rear mirror fell

Darn it!!! Today driving back home and I needed to adjust my rear view mirror. While I am adjusting it the darn thing fell off!!! I tried to tug it back in, but still loose. Then I added some glue and tugged it back it. Seems to be secure now, but I'm afraid it might fall off again. How exactly do they install it to the windshield? I slided it back onto the hook upwards, but is this the right way? It'd make sense if it'd slide in from top to down. Any help?

The same thing happened to me. My windshield had been moved while my car was in the shop in February (long story). The glass installer forgot to fasten the rear view mirror to the windshield. I was driving at 80 mph on the freeway when the mirror fell off into my lap! Needless to say, I was back in the shop b*tching about it. It's a pretty simple repair for the dealer, you should go back and b*tch.

That happened to my dad's Lincoln when it was about a year old. I went to Pepboys and they have stuff made just for that.

Make sure you clean the windshield real good as well as the metal piece that goes against the glass.

The stuff worked real good. The car is 10 years old now and it has never fallen off since.

I guess the problem is if its not installed correctly at the factory (air bubble?) then the heat gets to it.
