First start of the day.

I have a 03 tl-s with 95000 miles...when starting my car for the first time after its cooled down..my engine has tiny jolts/blips during the engine warm up stage when rpms are around 1000 my rpms never spike the needle holds steady..once the engine is warm they some what go away i still get a minor blip. Ive felt this in many cars . Spark plugs were changed about 3 weeks ago. Has anyone else experienced this? How did u fix it? Feedback appreciated.

My car does the same. I read about this being a feature of the car which retards the timing in order to heat the cat up quickly. I may be completely wrong though.

Its not supposed to do what the OP is saying from the motor. The motor shouldnt do any thing that is felt during start up.

At first start you should get a series of noises/pulses. First when you put into reverse then drive (or drive up to 15mph). Its the ABS doing a self test. It shouldnt be from the motor though.

Assuming that it smooths itself out once you shift from park I'd say its the ECU retarding timing to speed up the ULEV characteristics. Normal operation.

I used NGK Iridium plugs..the problem was there before I put in the plugs.. I thought that would fix the problem.

The idle isnt 100% smooth but its not bad at all once warm... motor mounts maybe the issue there..just worse when the engine is cold almost like my engine is gargling.
Thanks for the help.

If the problem alleviates itself as the engine warms up, its probably not the mounts. If its really bothersome you could try sea foam, but since you've just recently replaced the plugs you may not want to go overboard with it. When you first cold start and while in park, does the RMP sit a couple hundren higher than normal idle?

Yeah like I said, almost positive its the ECU's way of warming up the CAT.
