It Finally Came...

Well my oem body kit finally was delivered today...here are some pics:

Big Boxes, should've seen me fitting them in my Legend, that car is HUGE!

Sucks they don't make the skirts in SSM any more!..should I just roll like this for awhile?....lol..I'm kidding!

Yes those are all DVD's!!

I have WW rear, so I'm taking all 3 pieces to get painted tomorrow.
I'm installing them myself, for those that have install this, how hard is it? Using the Acurainspired DIY, has pics and all..so should be easy right?

Nice.

The kit was really easy to install. The sides are a pain to get out though. Some suggest you use a hammer or the 2 x 4 trick under the skirt. My cousin just yanked the sides out with a pole breaking the tabs and the stock skirt just came right off. Since the other side already had broken tabs I just yanked the otherside the same way my cousin did and it came off easy. Don't spend an hour trying to get off a sideskirt. I bought new tabs for about $16 dollars, so it wasn't a biggie.

If you can't get the sides off easily with the 2x4 technique, jack up the car on whichever side you are removing, take off the rear wheel and hit it lightly with a rubber mallet until it slides forward. Also I have the official Acura installation instructions in PDF format, PM me your e-mail addy if you want me to send them to you.

I just received my full oem kit today for my car. Install was not too bad at all. I used a thick wooden broom and wedged it between the tire and skirt, it worked like a charm! Take your time so that you can reuse the clips. Good luck let us know if you need help.

Lets seee..

Front and side skirts got from Ray Laks= around $600(sides not painted, 150 to paint, not from Ray, he charges 300 bucks.)
Rear WW from ebay=$260.00 (150 for painting)
So total around $1360.00

I've could've saved 200 bucks if I just got the full OEM body kit, but I like the WW rear better, so had to pay extra.

You could get the full body kit from Ray Laks, he gave me a price for all 4 pieces=$1160
This price includes painting the side skirts silver. If you get any other color then SSM the price drops by 300 bucks!

I GUESS I GOT LUKCY ON MY KIT. I HAVE WW KIT FOR 2001 TL AND I HAVE PAID FOR NON-PAINTED KIT (FRONT, BACK, SIDES) $550 SHIPPED. I DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH YOU GUYS HAVE PAID FOR YOURS BUT THATS THE DEAL I GOT.
I GOT MY KIT PAINTED WITH THE CAR SO I DON'T KNOW WHAT IS THE CHARGE FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL ONE.
I DID SOME MAJOR MODIFICATIONS FOR INSTALLING IT. I'VE PUT FRONT AND BACK ON RIVETS. THAT WAY I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT LOOSING ONE WHILE DRIVING OR HAVING IT FALL OFF IF I HIT ANYTHING. THE ONLY WAY ITS COMING OFF IT'S FOR ME TO LOOSE MY BUMPERS AND I AM NOT PLANNING ON DOING THAT

Well I just got back from paint shop, and got a different price for spraying the side skirts and WW rear. The shop is a really good shop, guy is known for his work. I was told 350 by his son about a week ago, for all 3 pieces, but he was guessing. Dad told me today $480.00, not bad I guess when everyone else is telling me $600+. Seems like a lot to pay to paint 3 pieces, starting to think If I can do it myself..have access to spray gun, and spray booth, just need the primer, flex additive, finish paint, and clear coat. Starting to turn out to be an expensive body kit!!

Awesome I'm gonna have to get a kit pretty soon here, I just dropped my car and a kit would definately add to the look. I have access to a good spray gun, paint and booth for the fiberglass sub box work i do so I could prolly save some dough and just do it myself. Have fun installing it - thats my favorite part of a new purchase for the car

Nice chioce. I got my kit on about a month ago, I also had to order the sides in WDP. I had a guy I know spray them for $150. I didnt think the sides were that hard to get off. I had the most trouble with the rear skirt because it didnt seem like the bolts were quite long enough. I had everything on in about an hour and a half if that. Also, My total came to $992 because I work at a dealership. lol.

I just got my kit a couple weeks ago and installed it. I had my local dealership price match to Ray Laks price.

I'll be painting my kit myself along with the rest of the car. The paint's pricy, but the labor's $0.

I feel ya, my SSM brotha. The painting is what's keepin' me from getting the OEM kit. Its nice to see you're willing to pay for the SSM kit.
