Question filling up on gas...

hey guys,
quick question. i was filling up on gas today and noticed that there is not a little spring-loaded metal plate that comes up to cover the inlet where you put the fuel pump nozzle into your gas line to pump gas. is this normal or did mine just fall into my tank?
thanks,
peter.

My 02 TL-S doesn't have that flap you are talking about either. I guess our cars just don't have that. What's the point anyway in having it?

I think there is 2 reason. Not sure if I'm right but it sounds good...

1. When the car is moving they dont want any of the oil to hit the rubber cap that you twist off to pour car...

2. If the rubber cap is off then sh*t can get in there...

My .02...

I like it, cuz when you put additive in the tank, there's nothing blocking. I used to spill those crap when the plate was blocking until the bottle pushed the plate down.
