Exclamation Filing Lemon Law

Need suggestions on filing for lemon law. I have a 2003 tl-s and have been trying to resolve a issue with my car having some steering issues. So far it has ruined a set of tires and a set of rotors in the front and still is going on. I have had minimal support from acura on trying to resolve the issue and and after numerious attempts, 4 dealership visits and numerous visits to the tire place, I have still not gotten any further.

So I am at the point where I am filing for lemon law on the vehicle. Now I would much rather that Acura buy the car back and give me a new vehicle, but at this point my frustrations with the company are running high. I love the car, I love the design, but I am at a end on dealing with honda in resolving what they can't find. I have no interest in going to the dealer anymore to find this as I have made enough trips.

From your experiences, what the the things you would recomend as I am already sending out letters and documentation to the head of texas and the us for acura and also to the attorney generals office of texas in regaurds to this.

Any insight in this matter would be helpfull. As I would like to be a tl owner, just not with this vehicle at any cost.

It is very hard to get a replacement vehicle with the lemon law. I believe it must be in the shop for the SAME nonconformity at least 3 times in one year, or a reasonable amount of repair attempt. I believe if you are also over 18,000 miles you are out of luck as well. Here some more info on it, but it's very hard to prove the vehicle is a lemon: http://www.wa.gov/ago/consumer/lemon...es/whatis.html

Good luck though!

After all I went through I can vouch for it being a hard and loonnngggg process (took me 3 months). Document every single time you went to the dealer and even talked to anyone from Acura. Include names when possible. Tally this all up, get an attorney to make the rest of the struggle easier. You will need to file a 'last chance' letter in most states, which gives the dealership 7/15/21 days (varies state-to-state) to remedy the problem to your satisfaction one final time. Only after this last attempt fails can you take it up to the next level and file to have it lemoned.

Good luck.

My advise in short - get an attorney if you are serious, it will make your life a lot less stressful.

The car is a lease, and the problem is that I live 350 miles from the closest dealer and I have made 3 trips already trying to resolve the issue and had the dealer out here try on one attempt to fix it and they cant either. I really am thinking that the best thing that I could do is to just simply have them do a buy back and be done. I would rather get a new o3 but I dont really think the way acura has handled this so far is going to make me want to buy again unfortunately

I think you FIRST want to contact the Better Business Bureau (automobile division), and let them take up the case. They will first review your case and draft a letter on your behalf stating that you have taken up claim w/ the Auto BBB and they are currently investigating this case. I have done this and have experience.

In my case, this letter quickly prompted the two Isuzu (in the case of my Isuzu Rodeo) district reps to contact me and the nearest dealership to make them do the necessary work to rememdy my situation. The work was done and the problem solved after over 10 different attempts to solve it before at different dealerships. Please try this route before you spend money on an attorney and go through the lemon law hassle. Ultimately, you may in fact need to go this route like CopLand, but try this first unless someone has a better suggestion. I welcome all other suggestions, I know how frustrating this can be .. especially since you live so far out from the dealership.

If you did end up w/ another '03 TL, I guarantee your chances of having this same, rather unique problem would be many times lower... I have yet to read about a problem such as the one you've suggested... could you be more specific w/ what your car is doing that is causing the problems?

Well, what the car is doing is I will get a vibration in the steering wheel. It feels as though the balance in the tires is way off. I will get this feeling sometimes as low as 35 miles per hour. Now, I used to feel it when braking, but I had the rotors replaced as they were warped. I also had all the tires on the vehicle replaced and this was due to the tires being out of round on the vehicle. Now, despite both of these things being done, something is causing them to happen and I still have the symptoms.

I think in your case you would have a very hard time getting the lemon:
"Nonconformity", any specific or generic defect or malfunction, or any concurrent combination of such defects or malfunctions that substantially impairs the use, market value or safety of a motor vehicle.
Although different state-to-state, that is generally what you would need to prove.
