Features and Tips about 2G TLs

I discovered a new feature of my TL the other day and thought there might be more that I don't know. So this is a thread for lesser known features or tips about 2G TLs.

My newly discovered feature was the front center armrest. You can slide the leather part of the front center armrest forward, allowing your elbow to rest in the middle of it instead of on the front edge!

How I discovered this was: I was getting into my car and shifted my weight on the armrest and it moved, I thought I had broke it. Then upon further inspection I realized that it was made to do that.

-heated side mirrors (very useful in the rain)
-bulletproof J32A2
-VERY easy to work on and modify (besides the ECU)

LOL! I found out about this feature, the same way, just the other day. I looked back at my kids and said, "hey check this out". Their reply, in unison, was, "duhhh".

I think we all learned about it the same way. Leaning on it to shift on we're sitting and it pulls out on you. Just be careful if there's a drink in your cupholder, it will run into that.

Another thing I have found that I didn't see in those threads is that the cup holders are remove-able and there is a channel that runs underneath. I'm not sure what would be a good use for it, but it's interesting none the less.

careful with the drink holder area and inner armrest/cd area-
spilling soda in there goes directly to sensative microswitches under shifter
that operate SS mode

do you have an owner book? filled with tips and tricks
if not, they are free download www.owners.acura.com
also reg with 1 800 382 2238 x5 acura care/customer service/recall info center
Give them address as new owner and ask if all recalls are taken care of
Many dont know about the airbag inflator recall thats a year or 2 old now and still waiting for many Vins to come in

need cars VIN to register at both places

the kids probably keep the vent at back of center armrest open-
so thats taken care of on your car

All other owners should OPEN that little vent
the airflow gets pushed there and if not allowed to escape- back-pressures and leaks thru connections under center console,,its just a plastic tube
Mildew can build up in there from AC use,,leave it open and it gets a chance to dry out

a bonus of that tube is cooling or heating your drink in the cupholder!

early gen2 years did not get the downward tilt in reverse= right mirror

Best $10 I ever spent. The original cup holder on my 2000 TL was worthless.
