The center storage bin is also an armrest if you slide the leather cover forward.

 

The passenger seat heater only heats on the bottom, while the driver's seat heater heats the back and on the bottom.

The passenger side mirror will tilt downwards when gear is in reverse.

 

If you know you are pulling the battery beforehand, set your radio to an am station before disconnecting power - less surrounding stations the better.
This makes entering the code easier.

If you cannot enter the code still go to a below ground parking garage (or power sub station should work) and enter the code.

 

Unlike an Accord, you cant hold unlock on your remote to roll down the windows.

You can pair your remotes to seat/mirror memory positions, so your wife's key will set the car one way, your key will set it your way.

TL motor mounts have fluid in them and commonly break.

 

The TL A Spec was only in Canada, 800 produced, 400 blue, 400 black, you got a custom Canadian leather jacket as well with your name in it allong with the cars production number.

99 TL honks while pressing the lock button twice on the fob, 00-03 has a beep.

99TL has an ITALIC font on the gauges vs 00-03

99-01 Have a red A on the key while 02-03 got a new fob and a white A logo.

99-01 Cupholders suck balls!

Heated mirror LED for 99-01 is red 02-03 is Orange LED.

"IS NOT AN ASHTRAY" Storage bin has a LED light for night for the 02-03

Cup holders have a green LED light

99-01 Headrests are SMALLER and dont have a Tilt feature like the 02-03 does.

2002 TYPE-S does not have perforated letter on the door sills while the 2003 models did.

99-01 Floormats are stamped ACURA while 02-03 has 3.2TL Stamped on them.

VSA for the Type-S, TCS for TL-p

Type s has 2.25" exhaust piping vs 2" for TL-P

Speed sensitive steering for TL-P, Type-S is not speed sensitive.

Acura logo stamped on the wheel for the 99-01 While 02-03 got an emblem on the steering wheel.

99-01 had plastic pillars while 02-03 where Fabric.

99-01 AUTO down ONLY drivers side window, 02-03 has AUTO up and down

99-01 Crappy cd player, 02-03 6CD changer

99-01 had a CD tray, while 02-03 had a Jewellery case/ credit card

That's all I can think of right now, other than the obvious exterior appearance.

99-02 TL uses 5W-30 Oil while 2003 Recmds, 5W-20.

I never knew the diff between 01 and 02 was that big!

 

By the looks of it there's lots of guest views, more AZine members hopefully!

When I first got my car I was looking for these types of things.
ex: who would think the center arm rest slid forward
or that having the mirror selector on center in an 03 enables the reverse tilt.
I've seen a lot of people just leave the mirror switch on one side or another.

 

Alot of cars had these features it was not a really "surprise". But for the time the power down side view mirrors was something I only saw on BMW's and Mercedes back in 2002. So for the TL to have it was pretty cool, plus it always impresses the girls!! HID's was also some sick stuff back in 99 the only car that I could rember that came with stock HID's were BMW and Benz and maybe Lexus!

The 99TL came was the first TL to come with an auto dimming mirror which back in 99 was only something you saw on 50k+ cars. The TL was really a bargain for its time, it was maybe 5k more than an Accord EX-L V6 which is really worth the 5k if you were buying it brand new.

My 03 TL-S came out the door with a price tag of 37k with taxes this is an Canada, The 03 Accord EX-L V6 was 31k out the door so this wasn't even a question for me to get the TL.

Although the depreciation of our cars sucks balls, the Accord holds its value wayyy better than the 99-03 TL's!!!!

By the way the 99 TL mirror was used until the 2008 model year TL!!!! That's almost 10 years with the same damn crappy exploding probe rear view mirrior!!

02-03 only i believe...

 

Yep only 02-03 and they got a whole new designed side mirrors that look STURDY as shit.... if anyone knows what I mean...lol also a Blue shade on the mirrors for glare. Kinda cool since I've only seen that on Bimmmers!!!

 

The headrest in the back seat behind the driver's seat is bigger than the one on the passenger's side in the back.

Side airbags started in '00 right?
Its because of some sensor why there's no back passenger heater.

 

99-01 TL's have Red and Amber Taillights

02-03 TL's have Red and Clear Tailights

They are interchangeable.


There was an Optional Lip Kit / Lip spoilers available for all years and all sub-model TL's from 99-03 from the dealer. This is wrongfully refered to as the Type S kit or the Aspec kit.

The 99-01 and 02-03 Front Lip are different. The Sides and Rear are interchangeable between all years.

The Lip Kit is made of ABS Plastic.

 

the a-spec is also exclusive to last year UA5 production (2003).

not like the 3rd gens :P
