Fawking car!!! P1706, what next?
First I need new ball joints in the very near future, then I need a new splashguard and I need a spacer for the 02 sensor in the Cat and not this happens, here's the story.
I was driving home today from work and got on the highway I noticed my D4 light wasn't on. I looked at the gear selector and my car was between 3-4 gear, but almost fully into D4. I pushed it forward a little and it engaged fully and the D4 light came on. The car was driving normally, accelerating fine and its rpm's were right where they should have been like I was in 4th gear. A few miles later my CEL comes on and I'm thinking its the same damn P0420 code(need to get the spacer installed for the 02 sensor because of my RT Cat). I got home and scanned the codes and got P0420 of course and P1706. I'm thinking what the hell code is P1706. I figured it was tranny related, but not a common code. I cleared the codes and took a drive and the car is driving and shifting perfectly. No issues whatsoever. Do you guys think it's an anomaly and should the car even accelerating if it's not fully in gear?

Porkchop Sandwiches!
Our cars cant not be fully in gear. You were either in 3rd or 4th but not between them. Have you search for what that code means?

the trans is controlled by input from 3 micro switches under the shifter.
Electrical signals from there go to the computer with your shift up/down request in SS mode or computer controlled if in D

Nope. Also the code didn't come back today, the damn P0420 did. I just keep clearing it until it's decent enough in my neck of the woods to put the spacer on the 02 sensor.

without that spacer you will get funky codes and perhaps less than perfect running of the engine- just a guess

Saw a great cartoon in the paper recently
Guy standing in his driveway on the cell phone.
10 feet away is his car- with flames erupting from the hood and dash
Umm no, wait, yes
YES, the Check Engine Light is definetly ON

this is wut i get... forgot the code, but its the primary o2 sensor.
from time to time, the check engine light will go on... and basically (6-speed here) i will accelerate, but it doesn't go anywhere. its not the clutch b/c the engine is not revving. then it'll catch a few seconds later and start accelerating (happens during cruise control as well). so it basically a lagged acceleration... i'll accelerate and push down on the pedel even furthur, a few seconds later it responds to the throttle.
i need to replace it, but it might be the same for u?

Here is a video that deals with DTC P1705, P1706, and P1709. It is a code that deals with the transmission range switch / neutral safety switch. It deals with the J Series engine on a Honda / Acura V6.
