Fare well tranny (#1) 43,253K RIP

well i was driving home from work and felt the slip. I hoped i was nothing but as i drive more it sliped worse and worse.

1. my car is stock no engine mods

2. the ink jet thing I got that done about 8,000K miles ago I dont think that had
anything to do with the failure the trany on theis cars just suck!

but the engine is good so im not going to let a transmission ruine my over all good feeling I have for my car.

My Question to any one out there that has had a trany problem

What kind of warrenty does the new trany have?? 50K? 1 year?

thanks

wtf....??....replaced trannies have only 12k warranty??

so if your first tranny goes at 20k.....that means as far as the tranny goes, you're good up to 35k?

unless the replaced ones are not as shitty.....

EDIT:....or i just suck at math and meant to say 32k.....

huh.. i would like to know about this too. how come? i see people that are on their third, fourth trannies and i thought you can keep getting it replaced as long as the warranty still covers for 100k miles.

Yeah I believe if you are under warranty then they have to keep replacing the trannies up until your warranty ends. Say you get your tranny replaced at 98k you would have a warrraty on your tranny till 110K. Right?? But up until 100k you should get as many trannies as needed!?

They use that old "whichever comes first" phase. From what Ive read from you fsttyms1 you dont have to worry about 7 years coming first .

It would be absolutely ridiculous if your car had a warranty on it up until a 100K miles and for them to say sorry we already replaced it so you only have 12k miles rather than the 50-80k left you should have.

Incorrect. If you are well under your 100k warranty, you are covered until you hit 100k. If you are at lets say 99k, then you are covered for another 12k.

Had the tranny replaced on my 02 tl type s this past thursday @ 31,320 miles. They told me the tranny is covered under the 100k mile/7 year warranty. From what I understood, you have up to 100k miles/7 years (whatever comes first) to have the tranny replaced as many times as needed regardless of how many times the tranny was changed before.

It depends on the vin # of your car because some late production 03's are not covered under the acura initiated 100,000/ 7 year warranty. Go to acura's ownerlink and register with your car's vin # and it will let you know if you qualify for the 100K warranty. If your car is not under that recall then you are stuck with the base 50K 4 year warranty.

It's kind of amazing the number of times this issue comes up when the correct answer is so easy to get. Register at Acura's Owner Link and you can see every recall campaign that applies to your VIN.
